Graves Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Dreamlover lol... she did something cute, something for the kids. She's no Emotions though. She's not a Fantasy, definitely not a Honey, not even close to being a Heartbreaker. She's weaksauce. 1 2

While it's a lot of fun, it sounds a bit cheap." poki: "Kylie knows how to make bops but does she know how to make a mango flavored cheesecake?" This shouldn't be this high but I kinda love that it made it this far anyway 2

Sure, on earlier tacks I could hear it. But can y'all point to specific moments of the song where her voice is taking you out of the experience? I always thought she did a masterful job on the song. The end of the chorus and the bridge are the worst offenders. It's something about her tone there that I can't stand. 1

But it's such an excellent song, I can't rate it any lower than a 10." allforyou: "An absolute career highlight, her performance is so emotional it always gets my eyes watery." Curaga: "I can totally see how this would have been epic back then, but unfortunately it's is a little too dated for me." blown away: "I'll probably get lashed for this, but I cannot stand this song. It's a perfectly good written song and has a beautiful melody, but those godawful vocals of Madonna make this song unlistenable for me. If someone with some vocal ability had sung this, it would probably be an easy 8 or higher." poki: "Does Madonna know Kylie's secrets?" Madonnas: "Madonna is really strong at creating songs with unspecific details, but enough to intrigue the listener and let us draw our own conclusions as to the subject matter of the song." GreatestLoveofAll: "an excellent, emotional, deep song. honestly its crazy how she went number one with this" Why was everyone calling for this to be eliminated ages ago, this song is incredible 1

What movie do I know "'cause I'm your LAAAAAYYYDAYYYYY" from?" blown away: "Not everyone can deliver a showstopping cover of a powerful song like that, but miss Céline just did that. The vocals, the emotion, she just made it her own." sparrowblue: "A song. The way you make a cover your own. Miss Dion has a gift to interpret music and put her spin on it." poki: "Is this when Celine fell into the ballads trap?" GreatestLoveofAll: "giving my main diva songs their dues mhmmm"

Okay maybe I exaggerated a bit... but she doesn't sound great throughout the whole song. Imo the song calls for the kind of singing she became really good at years later after Evita. She sounds a bit shaky at times and just too rough. The song feels solemn but her singing is just not. 1

Fair! I actually kind of like her amateur-ish voice on this one being almost shaky in places. I think that slight imperfection paired with the theme of the song is just a match made in heaven, but I guess it's not for everyone. Thanks for responding! 2
Ewan Chaos Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Thank the lord Dreamlover is finally out, you're welcome everyone. Celine's album was way too much, but I'm glad The Power of Love did well. An ICONIC song for all American milenials falling asleep in front of the TV being woken up to the loudest commercial known to man at 3am! 3
PokiTails Posted January 24 Posted January 24 I listen to Madonna on the daily so I don't notice any vocal issues she has anymore. 2

Graves Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Open Your Heart is the most forgotten of the singles nowadays I probably think but wow! What a moment! This is like her version of Janet's Control kinda. Mission statement. Letting us know she's not giving up until we're obsessed with her. Like the fire in her (rough) vocals is insane. That's the sound of grit and determination and star power. And it's still just a killer pop tune you can bop along to without thinking of any of that. Queen! 2

Ewan Chaos Posted January 24 Posted January 24 The lack of comments for Open Your Heart Speaks for itself methinks! Honestly, SOOOOO glad Papa Don't Preach outsold her. OYH is amazing, but PAPA... iconic. Also, there's a song called Open Your Heart that's leagues better that came out a decade+ later 1 1

One of my fav Madonna songs EVER." blown away: "This song for me is the blueprint of a Madonna song. Catchy, but with powerful lyrics. blown away Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Wait, did I really write no comment for Open Your Heart? I thought I'd only forgotten to comment on The Colour Of My Love.
ChooseyLover Posted January 24 Posted January 24 The top 2 will be a surprise to me because I have been absent af this whole time
