Ewan Chaos Posted January 24 Posted January 24 I thought my Dreamlover sabotage would have worked but I guess not... as long as it stops it from winning I guess 1
Saddy Posted January 24 Author Posted January 24 #13 The Pleasure Principle Score: 8.03 High score: 11 @Mariya Takeuchi@Soda Pop Queen@creativity.@confide in me@madonnas@Graves Low score: 0 @jacklovesyou1 Comments: blown away: "The production is top notch and the song overall is very groovy. Easily among my top 20 of hers." sparrowblue: "that was a classic. that was a classic. the video elevated it." confide in me: "That Shep Pettibone mix is godly" Ken Lee: "The weakest single imo" Madonnas: "She was super busy inventing NJS this era but reminded us that she can also give us a freestyle banger if she wants." GreatestLoveofAll: "should have been the albums sixth top 10 hit"
Graves Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Kind of pressed somebody used their goddamn 0 on this song????? 1
Quicksand Posted January 24 Posted January 24 The extended version of Anytime You Need a Friend would've made top 3 I fear! 3
Graves Posted January 24 Posted January 24 If you don't like The Pleasure Principle then I fear you just don't have the propensity to feel pleasure at all. A sad existence. 2 4

Saddy Posted January 24 Author Posted January 24 #12 Do You Think of Me Score: 8.15 High score: 11 @sparrowblue Low score: 1 @poki Comments: Ewan Chaos: "Should have been on the original album tf" Curaga: blown away: "Another song that shouldn't have been relegated to the deluxe edition. It's a perfectly decent album track, and the chorus is among the best ones on the album." sparrowblue: "A shame this was THROWN to a b-side. Too much r&b for mop head mottola I guess. Anyway I love the haunting vocal arrangement backed by the dreamy production. She's looking for a resolution here and for most of the song there's like a composed longing, a plea, which flows calmly into the bridge and then she just goes OFF in panic. The transitions from belting to head voice paired with the calm backing vocals, it's like you can see her flailing around in distress till the music descends and we're back to square one. Unresolved." poki: "Not really" 2
Ewan Chaos Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Oop we did just get to an average of 8+ moving forward and we're not even in the top 10... that says a lot at least 2
Ewan Chaos Posted January 24 Posted January 24 (edited) Okay I loved Do You Think Of Me and prob would have given it a 10 if it were in the original album aka I'd heard it before this rate but I'm SCREAMING at sparrow providing a paragraph of praise for the song with his 11 and poki saying a two-word joke for his 1 Edited January 24 by Ewan Chaos 6
Graves Posted January 24 Posted January 24 It's a nice song, don't get me wrong, but this and the other bonus track we cut a few places back have always been slightly overrated by the fandom because... I dunno, because they're good songs in an era that was lacking many? Because tons of awful songs made the regular tracklist and they didn't? It's like they have an underdog appeal, which is neat, but they're not top ten material in this rate. With these girls. So goodbye Mariah. 1
PokiTails Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Help I tried to sabotage Janet but it backfired on Mariah 1
ChooseyLover Posted January 24 Posted January 24 (edited) I'm pleasantly surprised Everything Fades Away made it this far. Do You Think of Me being this high is a wild card too (above La Isla Bonita? I would have never imagined). Edited January 24 by ChooseyLover 3

Saddy Posted January 24 Author Posted January 24 #11 Nasty Score: 8.17 High score: 11 @GreatestLoveofAll@blown away Low score: 0 @GraceRandolph Comments: Ewan Chaos: "That iconic "give me a beat!" YAAS esp when Artemis uses it in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia at that kid's pageant show nnnn" Curaga: "This instrumental is kind of hilarious " blown away: "What's not to like about this? It's sassy, groovy, catchy and deserves to be a well known classic." poki: "Why does it end ABRUPTLY? Like, do you hear that? It's like there's 2 seconds cut off from the end that should be there to let the music come to a full stop." GreatestLoveofAll: "a classic, a classic, a CLASSIC" 1

Ewan Chaos Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Nasty missing the top 10 no no no no no no no NO Grace Randolph with the 0... I mean that's Nasty. She doesn't love herself 2
ChooseyLover Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Welp Nasty being out of the top 10 is something. But coming from the past two rates it's nice to see Janet actually putting up a fight. 1 1
blown away Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Nasty? A 0? Outside of the top 10? Miss @GraceRandolph when I catch you... 2
Saddy Posted January 24 Author Posted January 24 #10 What Have You Done for Me Lately Score: 8.18 High score: 11 @Nightingale@Ewan Chaos Low score: 1 @KillingYourCareer Comments: Nightingale: "Perfect song to launch her into stardom" Ewan Chaos: "The section "I never asked for..." AHHHHHHHH best part of the rate" blown away: "Choosing between this, Nasty and The Pleasure Principle for my 11 was hard. Great production, great lyrics and the delivery is on point." poki: "The full album version was on the radio a few weeks ago and felt like it went on forever. I don't like how 2 minutes is the go-to time stamp these days but this track could have done without the last minute or two." GreatestLoveofAll: "her first top five hit! "
