There's probably some 80s coming too, the score will be around 70s, pretty much like most of her albums I really wanted a 80+ score but i accepted that she's too polarizing to ever get that 2

ALA Posted September 27 Posted September 27 It's funny that Gaga has been so up front about LG7 nnn imagine if she didn't say anything and people had meltdowns over this I'm listening rn, for the most part its cute. Very excited for the movie though!
Artur Posted September 27 Posted September 27 The Joker should have been the album opener. Ugh what a missed opportunity. Starting with those two jazzy songs was, a choice. 1

pitysmith Posted September 27 Posted September 27 It sounds really polished. Good versions of the songs with production that balance the standards with a slightly more contemporary palette. Since she clearly likes pulling from the Great American Songbook though, and has now essentially made three iterations of this, I hope in the future she does more of a hybrid with this style. Even choosing more complex songs, or doing a fusion with her pop music would be more interesting. She could be doing what Joni Mitchell did in the 70's, where the music took on the structure of jazz but maintained her pov as a singer/songwriter. These songs are good but have very little replay value outside of extremely specific contexts. And it seems like Gaga is saying this is part of her musical DNA. Anyway, love her so much and will continue to support. LG7 is my most anticipated project at the moment. 1
Dan Leonelli Posted September 27 Posted September 27 I'm not really into jazz music. Honestly, it makes me feel like Eleanor Shellstrop from The Good Place when she said, "Ugh, I hate jazz. Every jazz song is like 40 minutes long. It's like, we get it. You can blow on a trumpet." That being said, I can appreciate that it's a solid album for its audience: incredible vocals, well-crafted lyrics, fantastic energy, and impeccable production. I imagine for a jazz fan, it's probably an absolute eargasm. 3 1

poki Posted September 27 Posted September 27 I love this album. Rest in peace, Tony, I have no doubt this album is in honor of you
Gavin. Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Not her just wanting to make another Cheek 2 Cheek but rebranded since Tony is gone 9

kellysclarkson Posted September 27 Posted September 27 What an amazing album The Joker and When All The Saints in particular stand out to me
Infernal Paradise Posted September 27 Posted September 27 (edited) Rolling Stone 3.5/5 But the highlight is her own "Happy Mistake," one of the two originals amid the standards, along with the frothy waltz "Folie a Deux." She taps into the connection between her alter ego Harley Quinn and herself, hiding her pain behind makeup and costumes so the show can go on, weeping the tears of a clown when there's no one around. "My head is filled with broken mirrors," Gaga laments, over the acoustic guitar. "If I could fix the broken pieces/Then I'd have a happy mistake." It's not the first time she's asked how she got hooked on the constant attention and adoration of the world. On Harlequin, she uses all these artifacts of vintage pop to continue a story she's been telling her entire career. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-album-reviews/lady-gaga-joker-folie-a-deux-1235114493/ Edited September 27 by Infernal Paradise 4
