Unless there's a second album lined up that's better and more commercial than this, she will definitely suffer a decline

Oh, please. This woman could fart on a mic and still sell 1M copies first week

I understand the antonoff drags but anyone saying this is worse than midnights is delusional :rip:

yeah this is infinitely better. but we still want jack burned at the stake for ruining her evolution.

this album would've made more sense if it came 6 months after MID-nights like folklore/evermore. but with the 2 TV released in 2023, it was probably an impossible schedule. but in 2024 we're well over that sound.

  Reveal hidden contents

I wanna snarl and show you just how disturbed this has made me

You wouldn't last an hour in the asylum where they raised me

So all you kids can sneak into my house with all the cobwebs

I'm always drunk on my own tears

Isn't that what they all said?

That I'll sue you if you step on my lawn

That I'm fearsome and I'm wretched and I'm wrong

Putting narcotics into all of my songs

And that's why you're still singing along

So I leap from the gallows and I levitate down your street

Crash the party like a record scratch as I scream

Who's afraid of little old me?

I was tame, I was gentle till the circus life made me mean

Don't you worry folks, we took out all her teeth

Who's afraid of little old me?

Well you should be

Cause you poured me and you hurt me and you taught me

You caged me and then you called me crazy

I am what I am cause you changed me

So who's afraid of me?

Who's afraid of little old me?

Who's afraid of little old me?

:chick2:

TW: Unhinged track 2 lyrics.

Spoiler

Sometimes I wonder if you're gonna screw this up with me

But you told Lucy you'd kill yourself if I ever leave

And I had said that to Jack about you so I felt seen

Everyone we know understands why it's meant to be

Cause we're crazy

So tell me, who else is gonna know me?

At dinner you'd take my ring off my middle finger and put it on the one

People put wedding rings on and that's the closest I've come

To my heart exploding

I dug up my initial "what songs I think I will like the most" list...

I have But Daddy I Have Him dead last
I was dead wrong.

As a casual fan of her catalogue, this doesn't feel so different from 1989 vaults and midnights.

Its good, but a little flat though out.  For me, its the production of the songs that really makes it feel very in line with the other music she has been making lately.

I don't think you need fo reinvent yourself every time you release music, but this does just feel like a continuation. I do wish she worked with new producers.

I just finished my first listen. I'm a sound>lyrics girlie, so I have already ranked my favorites. They were The Alchemy, Down Bad, and The Black Dog. Some notes:

  • Most of the songs sound like they're for Midnights 2.0
  • Folklore/Evermore stans would love Who's Afraid of Little Old Me and I Can Fix Him
  • I was hoping that the "Never made it clear, never made it right" was the real one. Unfortunately, it's not the case, and the Fortnight AI is better :gaycat7:
  • So Long, London sounds too fast for me. I just thought that since it's a track 5, it will have a slow, heart-wrenching beat. But TBH, this sounds like I could listen to this while running on a treadmill. LOL. Maybe the lyrics make it a track 5? :michael:
  • loml sounds like it should be the track 5
  • Soft pop rock stans would love But Daddy I Love Him, Guilty as Sin, Clara Bow, and The Black Dog

Again, this is just my opinion. ☺
