1989
I definitely think one part of this album that might garner some criticism is the title track, only because it's the name of the album but yet isn't nearly as deep as most of the other tracks here. That being said, I do like it, but so far it definitely doesn't hit as hard as the rest of the album. I'm sure it'll grow on me, though.

Popular Post Klein
Let me very quickly share my thoughts before going to bed. Who's Afraid Of Little Old Me? is a contender for best song of her career. Starting track 5, everything is SO STRONG it's not even funny. I only understand the Midnights comparison for the first 3 tracks, 4 if you're pushing it (though elevated tbh). Starting So Long, London, Midnights is not here anymore. The transition from loml to I Can Do It With A Broken Heart truly gagged me. The difference of energy is something. Florida!!! is a freaking career highlight. Joe gets eviscerated on The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived. I thought The Alchemy would give nothing and I couldn't be more wrong. She really made the worst song on the album Track 1. The album is sonically cohesive yet the sound evolves through the record. It feels like the start is a continuation of Midnights, and it progressively gets more intense with each track. Which makes perfect sense from a narrative pov since Midnights is basically hinting that the relationship is coming to an end and then through TTPD she slowly switch things up. It works so well. I didn't get all the lyrics, I'm gonna need to read them on Friday, but it's RICH from what I gathered. The glitter gel pen clearly was left in the drawer. Blondie had things to say. And the melodies are all more catchy that the others. My top 3 as of now Who's Afraid Of Little Old Me Florida!!! loml Can't wait to go back to it. 13

Exactly! I feel like it should have been the album released after Evermore. It feels like a natural progression from the Folkmore era with poppier elements and more experimentation.

Cameltoe Chariot
Just now, VenusFlyTrap said: both of these are very valid points and im not denying that bias is obviously present no matter who's talking about the album, I just hate this idea of only some people being able to review taylor's music and anyone who gives the seemingly "wrong" opinion must not know what they're doing, when those aren't mutually exclusive concepts I get reported and warned all the time for sharing my opinions on Taylor, because apparently I'm a OTH despite owning all albums up to 1989 on CD and seeing her twice in concert (Fearless tour x2). These POSITIVITY ONLY stans need to understand that blindly loving everything she does actually holds her back as an artist
