Vixen Eyes Posted March 26 Posted March 26 did Katy have her Katy Kats in 2008? ill have to look at archived webpages of Kesha's Myspace from 2008 to see if she ever referred to her fans as Animals yet. her album Animal was titled after her fanbase dubbed Animals.

Well KatyCats were dubbed during Katy's tour and Kesha's album came out in 2010 but she blew up during Bad Romance when Gaga already had the Little Monsters. But it changes nothing though. Nobody outside of the fanbase knew of those names but everyone had heard of Little Monsters because the media and press were running with it. And then everyone followed. 2

UnusualBoy Posted March 26 Posted March 26 This is actually true. She didn't invent it but she made it popular, after that you would see the Believers, Selenator, Lovatics, Swifties, etc 4
Fitzswiftie Posted March 26 Posted March 26 If only she could popularise having a unique fandom name - the ones where it's just diminutive suffix (ie Beliebers, Swifties, Arianators, Selenators etc) are lazy to compared Lambs, Hive, Monsters etc 1
attention Posted March 26 Posted March 26 the song that started it all... the pop bible from the pop titan of the time 2
nostalgic Posted March 26 Posted March 26 (edited) A lesser fave of mine being responsible for my all-time fave's fandom name is kinda iconic so I'll go with it and thank Saint Stefani for her innovativeness. Edited March 26 by nostalgic
Last Boy on Earth Posted March 26 Posted March 26 (edited) What a loser thread and the op having meltdowns in the comments.. so embarrassing Edited March 26 by Last Boy on Earth 1 2
ATRL Moderator MissedTheTrain Posted March 26 ATRL Moderator Posted March 26 Yeah, she obviously wasn't the first and there were fanbase names before her so she didn't invent it, but she does seem to be the artist that popularized it further in the 2010s. It seems like everyone had to have a fanbase name right after Little Monsters became a thing, and "Beliebers" shortly after that. Before that, it just kind of happened with occasional artists here and there. 5 3
modeblock Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I'm a Ga GÁ fan, but not a Liddo. We have to admit that Stefani brought it into the social media age, and her naming of Little Monsters, did cause all the gworls teams to RUN to name their stanbases. This is factual and provable. Mariah did it first, but she didn't do it during the social media age, so her fans during her peak weren't able to be a MESS on Twitter to make headlines like we do now. 2 1
Infernal Paradise Posted March 26 Posted March 26 (edited) The meltdowns Anyways, yes Gaga yes pioneer Fun fact, she and her team were one of the first ones to actually view and use Twitter and Youtube (via Gagavisions) as journaling tools to document an artist's everyday life. Another fun fact, she was also one of the first to build a standalone, dedicated fan-centric social media platforms with LM.com. Fast forward to 2024, record labels are now brainstorming new business strategies to prioritize the "superfan" and strengthen the artist-fan relationship. See when you have the visionary ability and foresight to revolutionize and shape modern digital pop culture. No fan-written articles needed. Edited March 26 by Marry Illusion Glory 3
BnPac Posted March 26 Posted March 26 4 hours ago, BrandNewBrandon said: As for Lambs YES. But not Beyoncé. Nowhere did she call her fanbase the Beyhive pre-2009: The Bey Hive is the name given to the fan base of American R&B singer, songwriter and actress Beyoncé Knowles. The name originated in 2011 when Knowles acknowledged the fans on her official website, previously titled as the Beyontourage, a portmanteau of Beyoncé and entourage. After creating and publishing her alternate website, Knowles officially referenced her fans as the BeyHive, a dubbed title used by fans following Knowles second studio album B'Day (2006) and the heavy use of the concept of bees. Hmmm? The Hive was the most known fanbase online in the beginning of the 00s, it's also not a name given by Beyoncé, she has also acknowledged it before that. I also didn't say your fave didn't create it. I was merely pointing out that Hive and Lambs were very popular way before that.

Klein Posted March 26 Posted March 26 6 hours ago, BrandNewBrandon said: If you erased Gaga from pop culture you would probably just be a stan or fan without any specific name for your fanbase. And how could we live without that... 3
Mandalay Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Mariah Carey was always ahead of the technology with her voicemails, pagers and everything technology. Also, she didn't name her fans like that. She said she couldn't do that. She's not presumptuous and she's always real.
RideOrDie Posted March 26 Posted March 26 this is true but atrl will do anything in their power to discredit this woman
Arrows Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Nobody outside the stan world know about the term "Little Monsters"
