Do you guys have the critical thinking skills of a 9 year old?

She has said the theme of this era is: being at peace in the most chaotic times.

The confusion is coming from people thinking psychedelia, 🌀, dark, punk, red, etc. are the themes of the album. They are not. All these elements are related to psychedelia or Britpop or trip-pop. To Dua, these three genres represent the theme of this album, so she is borrowing elements from those genres, both visually and sonically.

Houdini is about enjoying yourself and hooking up and having fun. Training Season is about refocusing your expectations amidst a messy dating scene to find someone meaningful.

The album cover/visuals are her swimming and relaxing while there are sharks around her.

Dua believes Britpop is about being dark and grunge on the surface/visually, while the songs themselves are hopeful and optimistic, which is why she's borrowing elements of it. Same for psychedelia and trip-hop - she feels these genres demonstrate optimism even if sonically they might not seem like they do.

The Training Season video is literally just her trying to have a cup of tea while men go crazy around her.

Everything this era has remained consistent with the theme.

The ROLLOUT has been a mess, but she has now made it clear what this era is supposed to represent and has been consistent with that.

Thanks kinda want this reposted on every page

Just saw TS London session mv and yeah she was definitely teasing more red dark era, she changed the aesthetic completely, would love an actual dark era from her! It had a lot of potential…..

Honestly, nothing in this era makes sense (aesthetically) lmao because she has the album name since 2021 and none of the psychedelic and kaleidoscopic aesthetics, butterflies and dark colors match with the title. :deadbanana2:

This makes me wonder how the gays reacted when Madonna released Frozen as the first single and visual from Ray of Light.

Were people complaining about the song and video not “matching” the album title because one was dark and the other was light? Or maybe pop fans today need things to be incredibly basic and simple without any room for interpretation?  Because by y’all’s definition, Frozen and Ray of Light don’t make sense aesthetically either :rip:

The way people are still not over the aesthetic change nnn. It seems like a management fault. If Ben was still her manager, he would have made sure to ease us into the "optimism" with some sort of teaser or monologue video like the one she dropped at the same time way before announcing the album.

The very first teaser of this era was her email list saying “sign up for optimism” so idk how this seems like a deviation for some

I never knew people stanned the colour Red that much ... don't worry it will still be there when she performs Houdini & Training Season on tour. I can't believe that people are still not getting that she's using red and blue as a contrast between two states. It has nothing to do with summer or beach. She had to be in pool/sea because sharks usually live in water you know

Oh no it’s all matching, it’s just that y’all need to think for more than 1 minute about it to understand it. She didn’t change the aesthetic AT ALL. This was all planned for years AND the ONLY thing that was changed is the lead single and it’s video from TS to Houdini. Houdini was supposed to be single no2.

Emotions:

Dua has been teasing these chaotic emotions since the day 1. Chaos, vertigo, optimism, sadness, happiness… and this can directly be linked to..

Kaleidoscope:

Emotional kaleidoscope is a concept that allows all emotions to be seen in light so we can appreciate their strength and beauty.

Each time you look at a kaleidoscope, new beautiful arrangements appear magically. This figuratively suggests that one should approach the most difficult situations in life by changing one's attitude to the circumstances because life is truly amazing.
So as said above - one should approach the most difficult situations in life by changing one’s attitude to the circumstances AKA by being RADICALLY OPTIMISTIC.

Houdini and Training Season:

Both songs are talking about negative emotions in this case and those songs are 2. and 3. on the tracklist which will lead to Dua changing her approach by the end of the album and finally learning to look at the world with an radically optimistic view as we go through the rest of the song. Both songs have a lot of this dark energy and are followed by the red aesthetic because they are linked to dark emotions. Other singles will lead to a more bright and optimistic “aesthetic” as we go through this era.

Album cover:

Dua is literally pictured next to a shark. She is calm and collected. She is RADICALLY OPTIMISTIC.

Everything makes sense once you actually take time to appreciate this concept. Nothing was changed when it comes to the aesthetic of this era. Everything is planned and the cover was ready since September last year even before Houdini was released.

Album is an easy 10/10 experience.

Why is every single live version of Training Season better than released one, she’s really committed to live album concept huh! (Last Chorus really needed a punch that live versions deliver) :coffee2:

I don't see her doing stadiums in Europe tbh, just LATAM

I'm not sold on the aesthetic either, but this becoming the only focus in the album talk seems a bit like an exaggeration  :deadbanana4:

There's a lot that's up for debate atm, but I trust Dua. I think she'll come through with this record. She won't disappoint.

FN & the debut album (standard) were only 11/12 tracks but amazing albums.

Excited and radically optimistic.

A #1 album would be cute but that’s not what Dua, her team or Warner are aiming. They want a long, phased era.

Dua is the prey among the likes of Taylor, Beyonce, Ariana and Gaga and the anti-gay/trans and anti-palestine / anti-muslim / right-wing people out there. Instead of feeling tons of fear, she thrives in the madness and chaos.
