Dua Lipa - 'Radical Optimism'

I love Dua's bridges, always will. Her voice really suits that part of songs. Both "Another girl in love / Another girl leaves the club" and "If control is my religion / Then I'm heading for collision / Lost my 20/20 vision please" have been in head for days.

FN was around 34K, right? That would be about a 35% increase! That sounds good to me. Were people expecting Dua to double her FN debut?

I think based on how the era has gone,  I was even doubting 30K so she well exceeded a lot of expectations!

the album making me rediscover houdini and i'm falling in love with this song yet again :jonny: i have more than 400 scrobbles and i'm not bored of it :jonny: houdini is the definition of timeless :jonny: a song we will remember 20 years from now on and we'll be surprised at why it wasn't the huge mega smash it should've been :jonny: i'm counting on you when we all become hags gay uncles to introduce our nephews and nieces to this masterpiece so it'll go viral on whatever the future TikTok is and Houdini will have a revival and will finally get its flowers :jonny: this album is a sleeper hit i'm telling y'all we just need to wait for 2047 :jonny:

Daymn! Ya, she absolutely *exceeded!! Was expecting maybe 35k-ish & barely (if that) squeaking it out over Taylor. She really needed this rn & will leave it that. Elated for her. Of course would've loved a #1 in places like Australia etc..but was ALL about those UK #s.

Houdini is absolutely an upper tier (already classic Dua song). 6 months later still fresh & lovve hearing it on the radio

I got number 43 / 5000 of the original zoetrope vinyl design :jonnycat: I could never sell it though

This is no Future Nostalgia, but it's such a fun summer album. My faves are These Walls and Falling Forever.

Great numbers for her, but I do worry that the increased sales are mainly down to pre orders. It'll be interesting to see how the album fares next week.

She's said in an interview that she is planning more singles for this era. I'm intrigued as to what the next single will be. Was These Walls technically the 4th single, or was it a promo single? I think Maria might do well and possibly Happy For You.

We remained radically optimistic and it worked, her power! :jonnycat: :flame: :clap3:

Okay so I really enjoy this album, but I must say that Houdini and Training Season are the only songs that feel truly fleshed out and mastered. Something about the other songs sounds demo-ish? I can't really explain it. It may be the length of some of the songs being under 3 min.

i relistened to DL and FN yesterday and those are both top tier albums that feel very purposeful and thought out. RO sounds rushed and uncohesive.

that being said I really do enjoy the album, it just doesn't match up with her previous classics.

Hi guys!

Nice to see that, despite the divisive opinion towards the album between fans, the album seems to be doing well.

She is captivating a nice fanbase, it might not be big as others superstars yet, but her next releases might make the fanbase grow more since she always take the past criticism to improve.

Still wondering how Illusion (London Sessions) from the Japanese deluxe version hasn't made it's way online yet :gaycat3:

Against all odds, we won ladies. No DSN-level hit, no acclaim, horrible rollout, just summer vibes and Dukagjin's waffle trucks taking us to higher debuts than FN.

It's in her copy of the notebook that she's selling with all the song lyrics that she wrote. It shows when every song was written.

Illusion was the first song that set the tone for Radical Optimism, so whatever 58 songs she had before that weren't inspiring her I guess.

After a week I can confirm this album is a cute 7/10

1. Future Nostalgia (9/10)

2. Radical Optimism (7/10)

3. Dua Lipa (5/10)

No need to push any more singles after Illusion, Dance The Night Houdini's probably the closest she'll get to a hit this era. She should just skip the deluxe and get back to the drawing board for DL4 imo.
