Yes, and she looks basic while continuing to serve the same black outfit with flat hair. She also just looks nervous and uncomfortable. I'm almost certain the flopping is actually getting to her and there are fires behind the scenes. It's sad, but she needs to learn from this because she is completely lost post-album release. This could have been a moment for her to get some good press but I wouldn't be shocked to see her on some worst dressed lists now, not because she looks worse than everyone else but because this is a boring and nothing look and she's already under a lot of scrutiny right now. 2

I still maintain the music this era is great, I'm really not worried about her artistic vision or music quality. The things that worry me: 1.) Out of touch marketing. What promo do we have this era? The biggest moment we had was the Grammys and they just let that slide away. 2.) Out of touch with trends. Dua doesn't need to trend hop for an entire album, but please at least get us a single or two that we can work with and let Dua flex her creativity on album tracks. Houdini is a fantastic pop song, but it wasn't going to smash amongst the rap/country domination happening right now. Whatcha Doing at least falls into the Espresso ear worm category, and should have been rushed out as a single once Houdini wasn't connecting. Outside of musical trends, it is NOT trendy to have a long pre-album campaign. Even if Houdini wasn't smashing, they NEEDED to get this out within a couple months after Houdini. No one is going to wait around that long again. 3.) The aesthetics for red carpets and performances. Mama, you are Dua Lipa, you could be a fashion model. You can't be wearing these dowdy outfits around, especially not for an era that sounds like a Mediterranean vacation. Where is the level of styling we had from FN? 4.) She needs a publicist who can give her the correct way to talk about her album. We were promised something entirely different than what was delivered and it just opened her up for more critiques. Every part of this era is mismatched and mismanaged. It had a ton of potential but Dua Lipa is NOT a minimalist artist, she needs to remember that. She doesn't have the biggest personality which is fine, but that's why the music and image NEEDS to be. That means getting up and promoting your work everywhere. That means glamorous looks. We had a couple moments with that, Houdini performance and Happy For You performance namely but that energy needed to be present from start to finish. If she doesn't drop her dad, I'm extremely worried for the state of her career. But if she's smart, and I know she is, she'll get a new management team who will help her work out all the kinks that are littered all over this era. 1

You were dragging the music and saying how done you were with this era, yet you're still here trying to have a "gotcha!" I still love the album and the music, I'm very disappointed it's not getting the treatment it deserves from her team.

I don't think she's losing sleep over it, but the numbers are extremely rough right now. I would not be shocked if the people around her are worried and it's just getting to her, even if only slightly. 5 minutes ago, jomarr said: Under scrutiny by… success stans… I agree success stans can be annoying, but while Houdini/TS were underperformances, the actual album numbers are worrying. Beyond that, the critics went in on this album. It's more than just success, it seems like multiple things this era did not land well and the success is only the result of that.
Blue Jeans Posted May 7 Posted May 7 She is really the princess of dance pop music and Kylie is the queen. Another dance pop masterpiece Experiencing the album release in NYC last weekend with the Times Square show and Mercer labs art show really elevated the experience 1
Relampago. Posted May 7 Posted May 7 I can't wait to hear Falling Forever live Spoiler unless she cuts it cause she doesn't wanna sing it every night and I lose again

I was dragging the music prior to the album release because she was dropping mediocre singles, which I did not like… hence the drag. The album as an entirety is much more enjoyable to me. But it's been clear to essentially everyone that she has been flopping this era, so not sure why this all of a sudden just now clicking with you. She's been flopping for 6 months. And her team sucks, yeah. But it is what it is, nothing you can do about it.

It's more than just success, it seems like multiple things this era did not land well and the success is only the result of that. They didn't though. It had a lukewarm reception but they did not rip it to shreds. It has a 72 in Metacritic for crying out loud. Not acclaimed but definitely not a terrible score. I would agree that the era is mismanaged but then again, those who couldn't enjoy the music without good numbers have problems they are worrying that doesn't really concern them. It's one thing to acknowledge the disappointing numbers but it's a completely different banana obsessing about it three days after the album's release. 3
ARTPØP Posted May 7 Posted May 7 LOL I seriously can't..... if the haters aren't criticizing her charts/numbers or her music itself, they're now acting as if they're the fashion police in charge of her style. GET A LIFE! 3 2

You sat in the thread for 6 months repeating how you were done with the era, with nothing-burger comments over and over and now you want to drag someone who's actually making comments that open up discussion outside of "Omg I HATE this song!" x1000. You're always entitled to share your opinion, but considering that was never my issue, it's very interesting that you would like to drag my posts after saying you should be allowed to share yours. I can talk about her team all I want since this is a thread about her and the album. I'm not expecting Dua to hop in here, but this isn't out of the ordinary for an ATRL album thread post-release. You talk about how to navigate the era, I've already given my rankings of songs and praised the album in here several times, there is plenty to talk about outside of that. 1
