NumbSoul Posted May 3 Posted May 3 This has been on repeat since the morning Once you get over the shock of this not being what you expect, it's absolutely AMAZING! 4 hours ago, CottageHore said: Does Maria sample Stereo Love? omg that's what it is! I knew the flute reminded me of something and it's this! Maybe it's not close enough to be a sample, but it really does sound like one.
VilsonMuqa Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I've enjoyed the album the last 12hours & i love it. its not as iconic as Future Nostalgia but it does its job. its very Dua Lipa coded. my faves rn (beside the singles) are: - these walls (its the continuation of love again) - whatcha doing - i wanna scream the chorus everytime it comes - falling forever - the gays are gonna love this. It reminds me of Loreen - anything for love - its sooo good but so short. Such a wasted opportunity. - maria - i love love love this soooo much! This could smash really hard. Somehow it reminds me of Shawn Mendes. U just wanna scream „Maria" during the chorus & than the flute comes in - oh my gawd. happy for you - got me in my feelings 1
Chemist Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Falling Forever is amazing. It should have been the 3rd single and maybe this era would have any type of momentum
Post Malone Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I played it until like track 7 and then zoned out and subconsciously switched to TTPD back to listening now 2

JoeAg Posted May 3 Posted May 3 These Walls right after Training Season feels interesting cause it's kind of a melodic and harmonic inverse?
Mephisto Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Based on 2 listens, I like the album, but I'm not crazy about it. It's def not as good as her first two. Overall, I think it lacks clear standouts and it could've been much better with a different producer. I'd give it a 7 probably, tho I expect it to grow on me even more. Maria, Houdini, These Walls and French Exit are my favorites atm. Skips: Training Season, Anything for Love.
Post Malone Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Anything For Love being the only listenable one and the first 30 secs are a random skit and then it just ended just past the 2 min mark anyway
Bimbo Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Just finished listening, whoever said this is her best album needs straight up asylum. It's a cute album but it sadly ended up actually matching the album cover there's very little personality here compared to her past work, not a clear vision, some feel watered down and never reach a climax... kinda bummed out since this was the perfect chance for her to fully experiment after FN. 4

Virgos Groove Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) I've been WAITING for Mediterranean influences to come back to pop music. She made this for ME Edited May 3 by Virgos Groove 1

thatsmydemi Posted May 3 Posted May 3 So after hours listening to this, my ranking would be something like this (in no order): BEST tracks: End of an Era Houdini Training Season Illusion French Exit Watcha Doing Falling Forever NEED TO GROW ON ME tracks: Maria Happy For You SKIP tracks: These Walls Anything For Love Not bad based on the first day. Solid pop record. However, compared to DL or FN, it lacks the highs of those two. Houdini, TS and Illusion are the most obvious single choices but besides them, I don't see potential singles that could become global smashes The only one that I think radio would adore is Watcha Doing. 1
mike_int Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Overall the album is 7.5-8 but only cause of Houdini, TS and Illusion, without these three it would be 6 I would change French Exit and Anything For Love for something more dance, more harder sounding.
ariesgroove Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) i listened and this is just sheer euro pop excellence. falling forever is INSAAAAAANE. one of my favorites on my first few listens! the writing on this record does seem a lot more personal to her and sonically it's her most cohesive easily, no filler whatsoever, which her first 2 efforts suffered from. these walls reminds me of like a mid 00s acoustic-ish pop/kinda rock cut; think of like this love by maroon 5, that kinda vibe, which i LOVE. anything for love needs to be longer. omg i loved this record, kinda confused with the critical response but honestly this is a solid body of work to me! Bimbo Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Maria is amazing though, and there should've been more stuff like the End Of An Era bridge. 1
