Oooooh my god it's a joke since she hasn't acknowledged the VMAs ever in her career This era could've actually been so much more fun if most Dua fans didn't have a stick up their ass and we could all just make a little more fun of the situation 2

thinkheknowss Posted April 29 Posted April 29 The Maria snippet sounds great (super LQ) but I can't help but think how she misguided the GP and potentially fans by doubling down on the psych when explaining the album when it's clear she's going to give us a y2k summery Ibiza type album
NostalgiawithDua Posted April 29 Posted April 29 (edited) That's where the role of a good manager and management comes into play, they should've simply labelled it as Electronic Dance Album but they straight up went psychedelic and brought unnecessary negative publicity to this era. Hope she actually has a good management team soon…. Edited April 29 by NostalgiawithDua 4 1

Hope she actually has a good management team soon…. I have to agree. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the music or the visuals of this era, but as soon as she started throwing the word "psychedelic" around she kinda shoot herself in the foot and that has given the whole rollout a weird press and trajectory (even outside of the issues they faced with the music videos and whatnot). I'm not saying that she should've necessarily stayed with TAP, but maybe making her dad manage her career wasn't the best idea all things considered. 1
Cloudy Posted April 29 Posted April 29 Well she can always learn from this album cicle and improve on the next one. Still I think the music will be great and the reception will be good. I know it's going to be my gym jam just as the 3 singles have been 1
AdrianNicki Posted April 29 Posted April 29 (edited) Well... since she made like 90-something songs I don't doubt there is a good psychodelic album there. She just scrapped all of those songs and picked all the safe dance pop ones with only hints of psychodelic music (Houdini, TS a little bit too). I still don't understand how can she make hundreds of songs for an album and pick only 11 ones to release. I know she will probably re-release this album multiple times like her previous ones but come on... she could have at least give us good 13-14 tracks. Edited April 29 by AdrianNicki

I agree with this , mixing family and business never works out except for Taylor who's an anomaly… I think it's going to be even more awkward now since they're so close (dua and her father) that firing him or replacing him she might find difficult I defo see the psych influences in Houdini etc but her doubling down on the psych aspect won't resonate well with the GP they're not gonna hear the psych influences unless she's straight up covering a tame song , I think she should've branded it as psych inspired rather than saying it's an actual psychedelic album Edited April 29 by thinkheknowss Spelling

I agree with this but I think for Dua her labelling it as an electronic dance album would've got her a lot of flack on social media for "being the same as fn" so I do understand why she wanted to really make this album sound different but yeah she kinda shot herself in the foot

She was using the word "inspired" HEAVILY, for all infuences (psychedelia, massive attack, rave culture..) actually. Not her fault some of you can't read.. Edited April 29 by sneakyishere 1

I'm speaking from the POV of the GP as someone who isn't heavily involved with stan culture or what not but she literally said it was psychedelic in every single interview that she did , how do you not see why people would be mislead , I remember her saying it was massive attack inspired in a vogue article or something somewhere but after that almost every interview that she was in like the argyle premiere she described DL3 as psychedelic etc , idk I'm just a little confused personally why she started the era in a red grunge aesthetic almost and then went a 180 to a ESV aesthetic almost?? I think people don't understand that when she says '90 songs' she's not talking about 90 finished, mixed songs She's talking about lyrics in her notebook, random verses they tried out in the studio, instrumentals she tried some vocals on They probably cut 20/30 finished songs down to 11 1 1

Not all of them had to be finished and properly mixed of course, but I bet there are at least 40-50 songs ready to go. 2

Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted April 29 Posted April 29 Houdini and Training Season are still in the top 100, even though I genuinely thought that both of them were already at the bottom of the Spotify chart. Let me celebrate some crumbs Also, it's a Sunday update y'all. Have a little bit of faith, a least for a few days IJBOL 2
