Moonlight Nation Posted February 21 Posted February 21 31 minutes ago, dejmieeen said: Shape of You - sounds like unfinished demo, with no catchy hook and it's one of biggest songs in last years. Despacito - bland latin song, and a global hit more recent: Cruel Summer - just boring song, pop Taylor had much better singles like Blank Space, Style or Out of the Woods. Greedy - I don't get its popularity, for me that's neither catchy nor good Those came to my mind. I'm afraid you misunderstood the topic. OP is asking for songs whose success tends to be overestimated by ATRL. Songs which did perform quite well, but not as massively as some stans make it out to be, and whose recurrent stats leave to be desired. Doesn't mean they're necessarily bad or overrated themselves.

Not you bitter over a nomination The W.H.O that will soon be a EGOT, will soon have a 3X Platinum album, currently owns their own music festival and currently owns their own signature fender guitar? That W.H.O? 1

Nobody says they are smashes in the West, yet they have 6,5b streams on spotify with their top 10 songs alone? Mind you spotify is a non factor in Korea. And their reccurent streams aren't too bad either Their success is absolutely not underrated, in fact they are mostly reduced to stans buying their physicals in Korea only, yet they are also doing VERY well on streaming Edited February 21 by simplywohoo

Okay, you're right. I missunderstood. But I will let y'all know one more time - CRUEL SUMMER IS OVERRATED, justice for "Style", which should be 10-week #1. 1

And selling over 3M copies but peaking at #44 ain't overrated either🤡 More overrated success songs - 1. Never Really Over by Katy Perry. Peaked Top 20 and still isn't anywhere near eligible for 3X Platinum after almost 5 yearsYet this site acts like it was some comeback for Ms. Perry. 2. Chained To The Rhythm peaked Top 10, made Hot 100 Year End. Still not eligible for 3X Platinum after 7 years. It's not that serious girl [2] 2
Afterglow Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Hiss - a mediocre song that hit only because of a feud with a bigger star, and is collapsing down the charts as we speak in only its 3rd week.

Raphy23 Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Rain On Me was HUGE while it was smashing, it was everywhere. It's kinda forgotten now. 1

Dialamba Posted February 21 Posted February 21 I don’t think rain on me’s success is overrated. It was a cute little hit that lasted two months. And everybody knows it’s not among Ariana’s biggest hits maybe Gaga but still.
ericcartman Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Rain On Me A lot of Britney's songs tbh Break my soul 1
Maroonx Posted February 21 Posted February 21 (edited) Adele - Easy on Me it was nice at first but then OMG everyone was talking about it and it got annoying Edited February 21 by Maroonx 1
Mr.X Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Any song released by Taylor Swift because its success is due to payolla, marketing and mediocrity instead of actual quality 1
Peak Now Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Not everyone in here misinterpreting the question OT: Old Town Road. Yes I know most weeks at #1, global hit blah blah blah but it has basically negative longevity these days Industry Baby and (on a good day) Montero are outstreaming it

perfillusion Posted February 21 Posted February 21 What's funny are bombs that ATRL likes to convince us have become "cult classic hits" or "gym hits" like Work ***** and Hold Me Closer 1

Imagine if the song was recorded by Rita Ora like it almost was, the same gays who worship the song would be saying it's trash. people just had a fun moment with PP, like a new meme. i don't think that many would consider it a classic or anything like that. the difference between it and other viral songs is Kylie bothered to capitalize on it, similar to Meghan Trainor's moment.
