KatyPrismSpirit Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 I think they might have the same merch company or something.

G.U.Y_Del_Rey Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 That kind of concept's been used for ages tho
Bhabylon Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 What Shakira does has flavor and sazon to it let’s just say that 2 4

Rogue_Redux Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 The Shakira dragging before her big night.
DougAF Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 Shakira saw the successful sales and knew she needed to make those coins to pay back Spain 3

No one is acting like Taylor’s team invited drawing different versions of the subject and lining them up, but the actual design and all of its combined elements are being plagiarized here I guess the big question is whether there are grounds for a lawsuit. Shakira's merchandise was created in the style of Taylor's merchandise, but she's not directly using any specific elements (an image of Taylor or her name). Nobody would confuse the two items for one another. Taylor's team is pretty active, so I guess we'll find out soon enough. lol 1

holyground13 Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 I came in except something similar with the eras concept but not it being the exact same Where are Hips Don't Lie and Waka Waka though? Or the Super Bowl 2020 outfit or the roller skates from the Loca music video? Oh well. 4
The Man Who Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 Thanks for updating the OP @FolkLover1989 as it was getting exhausting rooting for the anti-hero. 1

Maybe Shakira saw how much press/hype/streams Olivia got from plagiarizing Taylor and wanted to jump in on the bandwagon? 2
Trent W Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 The concept of eras has been done for ages, Britney and Beyonce did it ages ago for example But Shakira is shameless, is the same font with the same drawing style These companies/artists are close to billionare status and they can’t afford a designer to at least switch it a little bit? 1 1
gatito Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 when you order eras tour merch from shein 5

Yeah, didn’t this start with a little monster on tumblr in like 2010? 💀 If anything that original artist who drew Gaga/Rihanna back then should sue unless Taylor and Shakira paid or hired them.
Trent W Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 Also I wouldn’t be surprised if Taylos sues I mean Olivia was a fan and she didn’t let that one slide Shakira is a stranger If she has the grounds to do so, Im sure she will sue

Overall I personally don’t think Shakira or Taylor should involve themselves in any litigation surrounding this, but I also don’t want labels just blatantly stealing the designs of other artists that were commissioned to do something for someone else Idk what I expect to happen next 1
kimberly Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 (edited) yeah if we're talking about the crewneck specifically, it's an almost identical copycat. they didn't even bother to use Shakira's own (similar) font. I don't know if this is trademarked by Taylor Nation, can they send a cease and desist? it's Shakira's imagery so I'm not sure. or could it be the same designer/artist that created both?
