And it's not the biggest factor of its downfall. The line up, meh, we had TO1 performing twice the same song in one night (red carpet and main stage) before, JO1 & INI has been performing for years, they are basically the token Japanese acts since MAMA is supposed to include ALL of Asia not just Korea. 1. Being on random Tuesday and Wednesday (while it usually Fridays/Saturdays) 2. Being an Asian Awards only including Korea and Japan and sometimes China. Other Asian countries having a small throwaway award not televised for most of the time or announced on the red carpet. 3. Being one of the award the most with opened politics tactics. (MNET vs SM, when no SM acts would win, you'd have Red Velvet going there seated for 5 to 7 hours to perform less than 3 minutes and going home empty handed, while they had the stats to win, or BlackPink being literally blurred out on all the categories they were nominated during the YG vs MNET and losing all the awards) 4. The show never following their schedule, when it was in one day, which is why big groups ended leaving before the end or not showing up at all. All of these created the downfall of the show.
