Wow, a 40-minute DOCUMENTARY. Someone really wanted to dig deep.

 

Before watching the documentary, I want to answer the central question: "how much does she write?" 

 

The answer is "it depends." It mostly depends on what Beyoncé we're talking about. The Beyoncé from The Writing's on the Wall up to her debut DIL, or the Beyoncé from B'Day onwards. The former was a competent lyricist and knew how to take old and sometimes obscure samples and create amazing songs with them. She was never a songwriter like Taylor, who would write both lyrics AND music. But the later, the post DIL Bey, isn't much of a songwriter. She's more of a patron, as she pays other people to write songs for her, she suggest X or Y, they do it, and she profits. She usually gets a writing credit by changing a word or two, or adding a harmony, etc. but she doesn't really write, not at least like she used to.

I honestly dont think Beyonce has ever written a single thing, as far as lyrics. It was Matthew that pushed her to look like a songwriter and always put her name on everything. 

 

Beyonce is not a songwriter and or a good actress and thats fine. Shes a great singer and performer. She doesnt need to be excellent at everything. 

I just finished watching the video and I found it to be extremely biased towards Beyoncé.

 

I really took issue with this person dimissing Future's complaints saying "none of his lyrics were used (in Drunk in Love) and that's why he didn't get a writing credit" when it was established that they used the entirety of his melody of his song "Good Morning."

 

I also found this video to be really surface level. It didn't address other controversies Beyoncé has been involved, such as stealing choreography (Single Ladies / Bob Fossé), video concepts (Countdown) and performance concepts (Run the Worlds BBMA performance). But I guess she wanted to paint Beyonce in a good light so she ignored all these other controversies. The only reason Beyoncé hasn't been sued 100000 for all the thing she stole is because artists fear her (and her fan base). That's also why some artists have backtracked after criticizing her.

i think Futures case was his contribution wasnt used...it was Detail that made the beat i think...kinda like if you sample Super Freak without the mchammer addins you wouldnt have to credit both but if you sampled cant touch this you would have to give credit to both...so i think Futures song was the mc hammer of it if that makes sense. 

 

or hell she might be a theif lol

But the video clearly labelles that its about song writing. Not everything thst bothers you... for example there are no writing credits for live performances for that to be a scandal, she doesnt claim she invented the choreography etc
