I don’t understand the gatekeeping. Has the goal all along not been to normalize men wearing clothing traditionally associated with only females, normalize painted nails, normalizing men being able to be feminine? If that has been the goal why is it only okay when a gay man does it? Does that not just other the LGBTQ+ community even further? 

There's a small portion of the community who spend too much time online, who are desperate to create some kind of comparison between so-called "queer aesthetics" being used by people who aren't openly LGBTQ+, to cultural appropriation in a way that is analogous to white people exploiting other cultures for aesthetic or commercial reasons. It's particularly deranged and deluded because "queer aesthetics" is an entirely made up concept rooted in nothing but stereotypes.
