this isn't sharknado sis :dies:

i think it's underwhelming cause it came off the back of No Way Home so there was an expectation to stay great if not greater. some sequences were amazing but then the writing kinda took it down a notch

no movie is ever gonna touch sharknado’s level but i’m familiar with all of the director’s previous work, so i feel no shame in saying it and saying it again:

sam raimi made an mcu camp horror and that’s all i saw.

I've never seen a movie nitpicked like this. And the people acting like NWH is a classic, when it had one of the most ridiculous plots for a major movie ever......the definition of band wagoning.

This tbh :skull: NWH was beyond stupid and Peter is the most irritating lead in the MCU. This movie stomp stomp stomps all over it.

After IW/Endgame and specially Wandavision, Wanda has become one of the most popular MCU characters ever. Let's see how MOM impacts her popularity, but they'll definitely bring her back for a solo project sooner rather than later. And this time she'll have a proper redemption arc - not sure about her being a frontline avenger after everything she's done. Why would any avenger, government or civilian trust her after the events of Wandavision and MOM? I have no idea how they're gonna follow up her arc after this movie, but she just can't be suddenly good again and use the 'oh well I was corrupted by an evil book hehe sorry'.

The level of trauma and depression when she comes to terms with what she's done... I can 't even begin to imagine it. I would be scared if I was the writer for her solo project. It's gonna be tough. Perhaps having Wanda show up in the Agatha show to give her a small arc could help delving back into her character in a solo movie.

is she really tho? maybe among gays

cause when i looked up the most popular MCU characters

the list were mostly male dominated

This is stupid because there is nothing about phase one that indicates IW, at least the first ones. It all comes together with The Avengers, and I imagine this will be the same. The clues are very clearly set out though: the multiverse, something being awakened by the rings resonance.

people are so impatient, this phase literally started last year and we've had some awesome, huge movies already. Iron man came out in 2008 and Avengers came out in 2012 (where we saw Thanos the first time), so it stands to reason they're building to something.

Right? Like it seems pretty clear all these events are leading to a big Avengers Secret Wars film.

I read the spoilers because there was one thing that I didn't want to see in the movie, and yet it did happen :toofunny3:

I'm talking about Wanda getting the part of the villain. They really ****** up the writing of her character, didn't they? :doc:

Honestly I don't even know if I want to see it at this point.

Sis, she's literally the Scarlett Witch. :rip: How is her being a villain ******* up the writing?

I had a great time watching it. I liked the jumpscares (it reminded me of James Wan's Aquaman) and the visuals (way better than NWH). Finally Wanda's Magic doesn't look like straight out from Disney Channel.

Spoiler

She was scary af. This movie kinda devalue Wandavision though but im all for it since i didn't like that overrated show. Wanda's motivation here (Sony should sue since it's basically kingpin's one in into the spiderverse) doesn't make sense if she's not searching for a universe where her kids and Vision (and even Pietro) are still all alive instead of this one. I mean the root of her madness is Vision way before her fake children.

As for the Illuminati i liked their appearance but it was way too short. They should have been included in the 3rd act with a battle accross the multiverse. They were also stupid. I don't get why they were so keen on stopping Dr Strange ever using the darkhold while they didn't care that Wanda was already using it. First i thought that they were so chill about the threat of the Scarlet Witch because their vision was still alive and they intended using him to reason her (Justice League style) but no they had no backup plan.

Also the multiverse here only makes sense in isolation. I'm under the impression they keep coming with different rules with every project. An easy fix could have been better linking Loki, NWH to this. For instance it's the same event that tears down the multiverse with thé'e same set if rules. What was the point of having Dr Strange in NWH otherwise (what if the Steven facing America Chavez at the beginning here or evil Wanda from another universe were pulled in our universe because of the events of NWH for instance).

I get the sentiment that it feels like there's nothing really weaving the movies together, but the idea that there's no clear path or idea going forward is complete bullshit when the set up to Secret Wars is VERY obvious, much more so than phase 1 movies setting up the Infinity Saga.

Yup this phase seems the most obvious in terms of what it's leading up to. Sure we don't have that "Thanos" level reveal just yet but the strong focus on magic and multiverse make it obvious that Secret Wars is coming especially now with incursions being mentioned in this film.

I think the big reveal will be in Quantumania.

Spoiler

The multiverse we are seeing was made possible in Loki, it was all one stream called the sacred time line. Where the original timeline we know was ruin by The avengers. Spoilers to loki, but it’s been almost a year so whatever. by Sylive killing Kang variant it open/Splintered the multiverse so that multiple versions of each realities can exist. So now multiple verses of counter realities are able to continue multiplying alongside the MCU. It’s always existed, but breaking the Original timeline has made it possible for docter strange and Peter to have the sony villains be able to travel to the MCU. This film was confirmation that those other realities are parallel to dreams. Further proof that the multiverse always existed, just wasn’t able to be traversed. So there are multiple realities, Universes and timelines all multiply and splintering becuase of Sylive and Kang’s tampering of the multiverse. And this all goes back to The avengers going back in time and ruining the original timeline of the 616 MCU. Tony stark once again is responsible for all of this. As he created the time machine. The avengers caused all of this multiverse Madness tbh

In my opinion, it seems like Marvel Studio’s goals for phase 4 are to 1) do more world building by introducing new characters and 2) set up the concept of the multiverse. Then in phase 5, the buildup will be more clearer in terms of the Secret War plot.

Really enjoyed it!

Spoiler

The zombie necromancer was so bizarre. I know it’s part of the comics, it was just weird to see it in the MCU lol

I like John Krasinski fine but when he showed up as Reed I was a bit disappointed in the casting. Don’t see that for him. Dr Doom is my fav so I need the F4 reboot to be perfect :wanda:
When Patrick Stewart showed up I gasped, also can’t wait for X Men in the MCU omg imagine

The VFX were great as always but the Strange vs Evil Strange fight with the music notes was giving Hocus Pocus or Goosebumps starring Jack Black. I missed seeing those Dr Strange Inception VFX but they must’ve used that budget on No Way Home

Also wtf happened to Captain Marvel? Has that character been abandoned? Maybe she’s embarrassed of her uglee hair and is hiding until it grows back
