Stuart Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 I wish she stopped being so stubborn and got that goddamn vocal chords surgery. This is 2022, it won't be another Julie Andrews scenario, plenty of artists have got it and they got better.
Ibrahim Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 (edited) Her upper belting range seems shot, which is what was pretty obvious in her Global Citizens Festival. I feel like she's trying to hit notes the way she used to and it's just not happening. I highly doubt she's ever going to consider surgery but she def has to stop with the corsets if she's still wearing them (which it seems like she is because she's always stiff on stage). She always seems out of breath and I don't think it's anything to do with physical fitness. She really needs to go to a coach and rebuild her fundamentals because despite how unique her vocal physiology is, it can't hurt to explore how it's functioning now as opposed to her running on muscle memory. And you can only really do that with discipline and practice. I will reiterate that her fluidity seems much improved because she's not doing those choppy runs she's defaulted to for the past several years. Just not sure what else she can do if she relies solely on rest and limiting live performances. She has to do more than that to regain something. From her old interviews, it seems like her whistles are to blame. She's described it as "when other people would crack, I go into a high tone" - which sounds to me she kinda blasts her vocal cords with air while they're completely closed and the whistle is a result of air escaping through the nodules. That'll only harden her nodules to the point where it's just really rigid, inflexible tissue. Edited October 21, 2022 by Ibrahim
suburbannature Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 came here to comment on her doing the VOL whistle for the first time live in years and of course just found a bunch of negativity and complaining. her voice will never be what it was. we get it...move on.

Maybe if it sounded decent, our response would be different. We ain't gonna lie like all the Twitter lambs and say it's good.

Why must we comment on her being a voiceless fat cow every single day
Rocket Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 I accepted the fact her voice was shot and was never coming back YEARS ago. I just wont accept lambs gaslighting her into thinking she sounds good when she doesn't. Those whistles were not pleasing to the ears, at all.

Facts!!! and I'm sure that Mariah reads these tweets and think that her voice is great when actually it's not
Honey Beé Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 She can no longer hit “knowing the one that I needed” note, I hope it’s a one time thing.
suburbannature Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 well, while we're complaining () i noticed she can't even hit the basic Hero C#5s now, which is concerning as well.

C5 is a go-to money note for other girls, though. It's pretty basic for for her, comparatively, even for late-vocals circa 2017 Mariah since she'd hit that in a nice, chesty tone for a lot of her Xmas performances of When Christmas Comes towards the end of the song. After 2017 is when a C5 became pretty hard for her, with 2019 being the year she'd hit it but couldn't sustain it for anywhere nearly as long as 2017. I'd be pretty shocked if she lost the ability to belt a C5 completely since then since she hasn't done anything significant vocally taxing since covid hit. Edited October 22, 2022 by Ibrahim

Jaay Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 I love Mariah’s interview in the CharmB and TEOM eras. She just seemed to articulate and down the earth. I really love seeing the diva act dropped, and to hear the real stuff. I feel like her interviews during the Caution era were similar as well. It almost feels like when she’s feeling more confident, she’s more laid back.
