OreGuy Posted September 6 Posted September 6 honestly, Grace Randolph can eat ****. She was the one very vocal about making the sequel less Gaga and more Joker. 5 1
Jack! Posted September 6 Posted September 6 There's a very high chance that AHS might close its curtains next year. I know it's dimmed a bit in it's recent seasons, but I think they could make something good if they manage to sign enough of it's legacy cast onto it and they throw everything at it. It could be fun if she signed onto that for a couple of episodes. I always wished she was able to commit to the Roanoke season more, but I understand she had other commitments.

Grace has a habit of making bold statements about movies before watching them, it's just the way she is. that's low-key one of the key appeals of her content. I don't take her seriously half of the time, just watch for kii's and giggles Edited September 6 by Rino 3
Popular Post glacier76 Posted September 6 Popular Post Posted September 6 She is in such wonderful peak in her career. This one feels like she is not rising to or coming back from some level of fame. She is plenty famous, wealthy, successful, respected. Now, she confidently tosses out a secret single to massive success. Casually mention her next album. And a big movie, where she does not have to prove anything to anyone. And she is doing it all with an ease that I welcome seeing. Exactly, why is she considered Hollywood Poison? The reason HOG was a box office success (unlike Ridley Scott's other film that same year) was due to her. Who are these people buying tickets for Adam Driver? Nothing indicates that Joker will be nothing but financially successful. Personally, I would like her to work with more women and more people of colour. I don't need her to co-star with another white man. 16
Popular Post Jessie Posted September 6 Popular Post Posted September 6 Gaga has built a lot of cache as a movie star which is very hard to do in the age of increasing paywalls of entertainment and volatile box office which favours IP; and it normally takes many films and media profile hustling to do and this is her third headlining role. She shouldn't feel the need rn to turn heel and run to the nearest streaming service for cover. Nor is it necessarily the better alternative - Peak TV is dying too; wanting her to be part of an Apple TV series that whatever the quality will be hardly watched could be more of a waste of her time than something like FAD (and even Apple with their endless pockets are starting to tighten their belt on content spending). Her time is more limited by having her focus split with music, so the focus should still be on movies while she can. The situation does not warrant Hollywood Curse hand wringing from people like Grace. FAD being divisive but the acting praised and people complaining she should have been in it more? A movie that is going to be a light for theatre exhibitors in October, even if it's frontloaded? That's not a bad spot to be in and HOG and FÁD are meaty, buzzy roles that Hollywood stars would kill to have on their resumes (I mean thee Angelina Jolie and Leo were attached to play Patricia and Maurizio back in 2009, and she snatched that). She was not short sighted for taking on the role and she continues to work opposite some of the greatest actors of today and some of the biggest name directors. Is Denzel Washington and Paul Mescal stupid for being excited to work with Ridley Scott? Everyone was perched to see what Todd would do next. Like she's made. And especially based on the script she clearly had an even meatier part; we know her filmed scenes have been reduced along the way and Hollywood is littered with stories of clashes or warring opinions over Final Cuts. Unless you are a producer with the power to interfere it will happen; you roll with the punches and keep it moving. And that is where the only note is. The roles she has taken aren't the issue is that she should be doing more of them. She needs to change up the strategy and should be already securing what's next. I think she will be hungry to continue to prove herself, especially after seeing the reviews that think she was sidelined. 21 5

They should do another Coven season and bring Gaga in as a witch. Apocalypse was a mess but it was still enjoyable.
Big Bad Wolf Posted September 6 Posted September 6 (edited) I think some people are overreacting. This is going to be a good Halloween time release, will have mixed reviews but I'm sure Gaga's performance will be praised as per usual, the gripes will lie in the script and production. Gaga can't lose She's chosen really good roles so far. Next, I'd love to see her in some type of boss girl role ala Gone Girl or something. Edited September 6 by Big Bad Wolf 1
Jessie Posted September 6 Posted September 6 The way Coven is still creating viral memes to this day. They should mine nostalgia for those first three seasons for their final run and pay whatever is needed to get Lange and Paulson back but it looks like it will go out with a whimper sadly (I haven't watched since 1984 and I was one of the few people I know who actually liked that season my attention never went back after that COVID break).

truthteller Posted September 6 Posted September 6 id rather have her on Big Little Lies as a rich desperate depressed white woman than on the American Horror Story for a final cringe segment 4

frankvert Posted September 6 Posted September 6 Whew the think pieces in here. I'm saving my opinion until after I see FÁD but definitely disappointed hearing that Gaga is underutilized and what would've been classic scenes (That's Entertainment on stairs, kissing the lady on court steps) are not in the final cut. Less than a month to go ANYWAY- here's to tmrw's DWAS Spotify update serving a 3rd consecutive:

Yeah, a cameo would be cute.
TedLasso Posted September 6 Posted September 6 I'm actually really interested in hearing the piano piece Gaga composed / recorded for Joker. Her piano talent is showcased few and far between despite the fact that she classically trained and we know (Captivated) she has the ability to compose nice work
IBeMe Posted September 6 Posted September 6 I PRAY some miracle happens and Todd sees all the fair criticism about Gaga not being in the movie enough and decides to add in some of those deleted scenes and reworks the film a little. It's happened before ex: Nicole Kidman's "Grade of Manaco" had two versions filmed before they settled on which to air. One was rteleased in europe and the other in the US i believe with the european version being aired at Venice (though it was critically demolished) so idk...I just hope he does not think this is a part 2 of the unjust criticisms the first film got but that still turned out loved by audiences...with this film it runs the risk of the critics' actually being right so perhaps not being too stubborn would serve him well....idk 1

She should pick better roles and scripts next time to fully commit herself and stay away from white heretosexual co lead men. Knowing she's happy makes me happy. Its what matters. And award season just started, some cute supporting actress noms can save the day and we can focus on the era. I'm sure she'll tour shortly after and do another movie just like Joanne tour ends - she shot asib Chromatica era ends - she shot house of gucci Chromatica tour ends - she shot joker ASIB was filmed before JWT
Abracadabra Posted September 6 Posted September 6 this is actually so adorable the way she didn't know she was supposed to stand up
lisavanderpump Posted September 6 Posted September 6 she would eat in a Todd Field movie. Julianne was phenomenal May December but the entire time I was thinking how Gaga was made for a role like that 2
PlERRE Posted September 6 Posted September 6 I'm living for her attitude this press tour, it looks like she knows Todd did her dirty. 4

TedLasso Posted September 6 Posted September 6 I do think an era with the lead in October and album in February is wild though Like is that second single a certified flop being released in December… or what is the plan there. Not to mention the election in November… just such a weird time to be mid album promotion unless she dips for a while. 1
EnigmaticAndroid Posted September 6 Posted September 6 Grace is a kii but genuinely serves Katy level IQ so there's no reason to take what she's saying seriously. The industry and studios will recgonize that Gaga was not part of any failure of Joker, and if anything, is yet again a main reason for the success of a film. She's come out unscathed twice. All these MVP mentions and the narrative of her saving HoG and Joker build a specific type of credibility that many actors would love to have. Gaga will be fine and just needs to take on more work and be smart about what she chooses. 10
