'Naatu Naatu' broke a stat, it's the first not english song that managed to win an Oscar with being the only nomination of a movie, 'Jai Ho' was in a Best Picture winner that won and got tones of Oscar nominations, that I meant earlier @hausofdave

Some people were using this stat last year in prediction sites and boards thinking NN wouldn't have ended up winning the Oscar at the end because of that despite the Globe win.

so a stat of a stat, same difference. there were also people noting that despite the films shortcoming, it would prevail b/c of the strength of the overall song’s momentum (non stop push from critics/film twitter & screenings) & that HMH/LMU could upset solely from the strength of the overall film & subject matter. in all NN was still #1 in odds at the end. its not one of the populous correlative stats that like Editing/Sound which EEAAO recently broke

At the end my point is that you're now talking like this in these terms when all is said and done, but during last award season when things weren't settled yet, for months you were acting and arguing in a different way pushing certain narratives (like Blanchett being 100% lock for the win or HMH being an easy win because attached to best picture contender) excluding other scenarios that at the end happened and I was the one saying to you to act less sure like I'm doing now about TCP possibilities and chances, since we're still early in the race.

I'm pretty sure other users like @EnigmaticAndroid that follow the Oscar season remembers too and got what I'm trying to say.

and i stand my point Blanchett would’ve won had EEAAO not dominantly swept all the pre-cursors and become a anomaly Parasite 2.0, like wth saw a JLC win coming from away? HMH would’ve been an easy win had NN not get the constant every day boast from nonstop tepid critics. TCP will not replicate that, its ceiling is a BP nom at most. plus the only major features left to be fully released are Poor Things & Maestro, and we’ve already been known about their respective initial receptions.

No wonder Gar hasn't said anything about Israel/Palestine, everyone who publicly supports Palestine is getting fired from movies/tv shows/etc. :biblionny:

Spoiler

Unless she supports Israel and doesn't want to get cancelled :thing:

She always does the right thing when she doesn't listen to this fanbase (or part of), speaking on this matter like some fans wanted would have backfired to her no matter what, whatever position she would have taken, staying silent was and it is the best decision.

She did her part in political and social arguments where her contribute made more sense anyway and when it wasn't convenient for her to be outspoken.

AI will never get Gaga’s vocals right. They always come out flat in these AI monstrosities

Let me be delulu for a moment and believe the reason why Emily Eavis denied Madonna is headlining Glastonbury is because the American female headliner they have teased is actually Gar

I do agree though, on both points. At this point in recent seasons, people were still convinced that Fabelmans would easily sweep, Belfast was the obvious frontrunner, and Coda wasn't even a thought. There's no reason to write off a thematically important crowdpleaser with strong initial reactions that's being positioned as a late-breaker.

Oscar debate already :foxaylove3: Honesty these arguments are so much fun. Music awards could never.

I hope she is in winning/nomination conversation again.
