Perfect Illusion was literally years ahead of its time musically and somebody does a similar sound almost a full DECADE later and y'all are gagging and calling PI bad. Gaga is a genius musically and this cycle of reducing her continues to prove it. Never change liddos.

Yup, love to see a liddo who is strong enough to know the truth :clap3:

The only thing that PIsses me off about PI is the fact that it did not sound like the album at all :noparty:

I was ready for an album of GrungeGa, instead we got DepressedGa singing about daddy issues and appealing to middle American soccer moms

Perfect Illusion is a pretty divisive song, but calling it bland and generic is just wild

A lot of the discourse in this base surrounds around the time we're currently in and people who either weren't around or not paying attention to Gaga have a hard time recognizing what her songs were like in that past context. It's only bland and generic now bc the discopop and synthpop waves of the 2020s are dying down.

Perfect Delulu is a great song, and I can understand those that despise it.

Yep. I remember the teaser was night time and she's like banging her head around and I was so excited . And remember the PIss' announcement with the rainbow motif and all? I thought her next album would be fun and light pop in terms of production with sad lyrics

We need Cecile Believe as LG7’s producer.

Watching piano covers on YouTube, I think Brooklyn nights piano version could be the perfect gift cause that song kinda represents everything that never was, Is a good way of leaving Artpop behind :gaycat7:

Tomorrow is THE day y'all :WAP: I know the white demon will not lift a finger but we don't need her to celebrate ARTPOP :gaygacat6:

PI is her most forgotten single and the worst song on Joanne - it did nothing for her. I’m interested to know their process when choosing it as the lead single. Maybe it was a deliberate move to take slow steps for her comeback after the artpop backlash, with a song that wouldn’t generate radio/media exposure

Perfect Illusion is completely unlike any other song in her discography and that’s why I love it.

No Gaga song is that direct with the lyricism and evokes such raw rage. The production balances Rock & Disco in a way that feels slightly removed from Gaga’s signature synthpop sound. Not to mention the dynamics throughout just makes each part better than the part before it.

The video encapsulates the song’s energy well. Simple but passionate.

Perfect Illusion is one of her discography's most identifiable and unique songs, along with BR, Pokerface, JD, Paparazzi and Bloody Mary.

What sets it apart is that it didn't have the success that the other songs had but it is truly one of a kind.

If PI gained proper success, some of you are going to stan for it.

Also PI sounded more creative than what 90% of ARTPOP intended to be.
