I’m interested to know their process when choosing it as the lead single. No Gaga song is that direct with the lyricism and evokes such raw rage. The production balances Rock & Disco in a way that feels slightly removed from Gaga’s signature synthpop sound. Not to mention the dynamics throughout just makes each part better than the part before it. The video encapsulates the song’s energy well. Simple but passionate. 7

GGD Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 Perfect Illusion is one of her discography's most identifiable and unique songs, along with BR, Pokerface, JD, Paparazzi and Bloody Mary. What sets it apart is that it didn't have the success that the other songs had but it is truly one of a kind. If PI gained proper success, some of you are going to stan for it. Also PI sounded more creative than what 90% of ARTPOP intended to be.
