Aden Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 I don't know how to explain this feeling but being a Lady Gaga stan in 2023 is acknowledging that Gaga is better than most popstars in range and depth of talent, but also acknowledging that most popstars are stomping her when it comes to being a proper popstar. It's also acknowledging that she cares about her general career having signed up for Joker 2, but also acknowledging that she's seemingly intentionally torching her career on purpose. It's truly confusing. I don't know if she intends on being a proper popstar moving forward but I'd rather she announced her retirement if she genuinely lost interest because at least that would end expectations and we could all move on peacefully. If she does intend on continuing as a proper popstar, I hope she finds herself in the company of people that can actually support her. One of the greatest popstars of our time should not have worse management than a suburban 7-Eleven. I wonder if Bobby Campbell is the right manager for her anymore. He handled her post-ARTPOP rebrand masterfully, but the way he's handled her hiatus has been questionable. If Lady Gaga and Co. plan to continue making money off of this audience, I hope they acknowledge how woefully they've treated that audience this year. 10 3

The next music era and how it will be handled will definitely clear this up for good, but for how things went in the last years, it's safe to think that her priorities are different and others than being a 'proper' popstar. I think Bobby is not the issue here, when it comes to her music career is more the label that have decisions to make and stuff to handle promo wise like playlisting or collaborations-droplets proposal, for the rest majority depends from her in first when it comes to releasing music and stuff, that is why it seems obvious to me that her priorities are different since years at this point.
Vroom Vroom Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 Beyoncé took a 6 year break between Lemonade and Renaissance. Gaga is going to be fine JFAD is coming to be a massive moment for her career. The wait just sucks so much. Might take a break from stanning until the trailer comes out
PlERRE Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 The sphere situation could be exciting, I hope she works with professionals for the visuals if something happens there.

Lady Gaga has never been a "proper popstar", though. She has never had a glam team of dozens dedicated to making her look perfect, she has never had a social media team, she has never had a PR team ready to swat down any negative article. From the get-go, and even during her peak in 2011, she has always been "home grown", old-fashioned, or "hodge podge", and most of what she does or has done was/has been thought up and crafted in hotel rooms alongside her closest artistic team. It has been 15 years and it is strange if longterm Gaga fans have not noticed this? This just feels very hyperbolic to me, and these meltdowns always happen after another popstar does something because Gaga fans are incredibly insecure about a woman who has sold over 200m records, has an Oscar, and is one of the highest-grossing and selling musicians of all time. And that is what it all comes down to, no? Comparing her to others, wanting her to be and do what others are and do? Do you think it is a bit ironic coming from fans of a popstar whose entire identity has been based on being different from the others? Gaga is not and has not been on a hiatus. Since Chromatica, she has done a bevy of things. It is just that Gaga fans are not happy with anything, ever. She can never do anything that makes them happy because they want someone who is #1 on the charts so they can live vicariously through her. That is just not her fault. And I get that I sound like a delusional fan, but apart from the Chrome Tour Movie taking TOO long, she has genuinely not done anything bad to warrant these type of posts. Bobby and co. had a ton of stuff scheduled for Chromatica, but COVID stopped everything. They had an all-out assault planned and then they just could not do it. Gaga clearly moved on because of whatever her reasons were and it is not on Bobby to force her to do stuff. If Gaga woke up tomorrow and was like, "Bobby, I want to be everywhere," he would truly make it happen. People want to blame everyone for everything, but it is Gaga who does not want to do certain things. But that does not mean she is not interested or wants to retire? It may mean that she is not interested in going through the same traumatic bullshit she did ten years ago. And that is fair to me. BTW, I mean this post with sincerity and I am not meaning to be shady. I love talking about this stuff with fellow Gaga fans so please do not think I am being disrespectful towards you. 6
Phoenixstar Posted October 16, 2023 Author Posted October 16, 2023 You said it perfectly. @Sannie It is no secret that some liddos want her to be like Taylor or Beyonce, so that they can flaunt that their fave did this and that. It reeks the insecurity, babe, insecurity. 1

Psyduck Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 Hi fellow monsters, I've been stanning since 2008 when I first saw a clip of her online with those 'pop music will never be low brow' glasses and I'm proud to say I still stan Ms Ga Ga 5

Marry The Gods Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 I still don't think she will ever perform there. She probably just followed the account so she can see pics and videos of her favorite rock bands performing there. She talked about extending her MGM contract just a few weeks ago. 1

I meant "proper popstar" in the sense of having alluded to projects (the tour doc, special project, etc) that have not come into fruition, and I don't think matters like the strikes play as big a role in their delay as we think. Felt like progress was being made when she spoke about her hiatus this summer and shared news of her work, all to still be silent months after. Trust me, I'm not a success liddo. I appreciated Chroma to L4S to HMH more than most fans. 5 hours ago, Leptine said: Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think he meant with 'proper popstar' somebody with a perfect imagine or a with a heavy propaganda PR team, although you can't even say that Gaga didn't have a team curating her high fashion imagine and looks that require more effort than looking basic next door, however I thought he meant somebody heavily dedicated to their pop music career, like she was at the beginning of her career, I think it's a legit question wondering if she has plans to invest in another pop music era or if she has other plans or priorities like that 'music project' she wrote and produced that doesn't sound like a studio album description and what kind of project it is, or if she plans to do another movie soon, clearly without dismissing her success in other ventures, my previous reply at least is from this point of view. This precisely. She was incredibly invested in her music career at the beginning, proudly used it to make a safe space for the marginalized, and even to this day alludes to music as being her life in J+P. I 100% acknowledge music careers change and would 100% respect any decision to step out or step into music. But her audience wouldn't have any expectations if she herself hadn't alluded to work being done via Instagram. 2
