Zaram Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 People trying to drag applause, but accepting PI as a lead
Blade Runner Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 4 minutes ago, Brishka said: No. It was due to self-competition (her votes were likely split due to "Nocturnal Animals"). The same happened with Scarlett Johansson ("Lost in Translation" and " Girl with a Pearl Earring"). Pretty shocking (but not as shocking as Gaga's snub, which was the biggest L in my stanning career). I spent two months tracking every single award show on Goldderby, arguing with KStew stans only toforr Gaga's name not to appear on the list of the nominees. The fact that Gaga was the only one who was nominated for BAFTA made that L even bigger. 2 minutes ago, GraceRandolph said: Gaga won a trifecta and was the only one nominated at BAFTA. It was a bigger snub than Amy Adams. I understand all of this, but unlike House of Coochie, Arrival was a film that got 8 (!) nominations. That alone makes the Amy Adams snub much weirder and crazier. HOG was just a total flop.
perfillusion Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 if she's snubbed its what she deserved for hold my turd tbh.

nick4bty Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 I still find it so weird that she was nominated in BAFTA. Like, was she a populist pick or a committee pick? I still don't get it. And the NYFCC win... Only to be snubbed by the Oscars... What a mess lmao.

fauxtography Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 I’ve been out of the loop. How’s Bloody Mary doing? Is it over?

Plus she got in for ASIB, so maybe it was an afterglow nomination. She was also the only American actress nominated at the Paris Film Critics Circle that year too.

ScaJo's snub was probably more egregious since "Lost in Translation" was nominated in every major category except for Best Actress, and she won BAFTA on top of that.

She was definitely one of the most voted by members, doubt it was a committee pick since they were choosing poc or small actresses for that.
truthteller Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 are you guys still talking about the HOG snub in 2023?

Cruz n/a (including her campaign) and Gaga everywhere, especially campaign. it's like they swapped places. I blame academy beign too snobby for the film compared to other bodies, Cruz, and K-stew passion rally

It recently dipped below 2M, and radio updates are tragic. It will likely stall at #19 on pop before starting to fall next week. However, BM will still be the most streamed BTW song on Spotify by the end of the year.

That movie and that performance were both god awful garbage
Leptine Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 If you have followed the best actress race this year, lot of famous actors have been pushed at the last minute an actress called Andrea Riseborough, who has never get any previous mention, if she gets nominated taking the spot of somebody who hit precursors, this is basically what happened last year with Cruz and kStew, just behind the scenes.
