Longest running songs at #1 on Global Spotify

5. (+1) Die With a Smile — 99 days
6. (-1) Shape Of You — 98 days

"I do not want to be the kind of artist who has had two successful albums and then feels invincible. I have to know when to listen to people, or I'll end up like those artists you've interviewed in recent years. You've seen them become the biggest artists in the world, and then suddenly they will say, 'I know everything!' And just after, they are no longer at the top," Sheeran told Beats Radio 1, without naming names. "The smartest thing to do is listen to people who know I do not want to do the Super Bowl years later, after my biggest success, just to prove I'm still relevant."

The thing you're failing to mention is that Tate McRae's last album debuted with 8,000 pure sales. LG7 might flop, but you better believe she's gonna sell more physical copies than that. She doesn't need nearly as many weeks of pre-sales as Tate McRae, so you can't make that comparison. Compare her to artists more in her league, and you'll see she has plenty of time for pre-orders.

I only brought up Tate as she's dropping in February... and Tate is someone who relies heavily on streaming, whereas we both know the bulk of Gaga's first week is coming from pure sales.

Chromatica - 205,000K pure (it did an additional 69k with streaming)

So as someone who relies heavily on pure sales, I'm just a little surprised Gaga hasn't announced anything yet. She could really boost that final number if she opted to announce variations during the pre-sale window... (i.e. doing a Taylor).

I'm sure everyone here is probably right and the album is still coming out in February as planned... my original post was just speculating if DWAS smashing has made her change course slightly... we know it has to SOME degree as the song wasn't originally intended to be on the album.

I just KNOW his chart obsessed rat ass is SEETHING :bibliahh:

Meanwhile Godga is on her way to claim her 6th #1 and is top 15 on the artists chart while he's barely top 50. Talent always wins.

Another IFPI top 10 entry in the casket.

Last time they predicted #8 with 1.55B, now it's #6 with 1.67B, even they didn't think DWAS would have this insane longevity even in December Christmas freeze.

Regardless if that phrase was intended to shade Gaga (which is very likely but it could've also been directed at Katy - or both, who knows) It's very interesting how his self-procclaimed obssession with what the public thinks ended up being his downfall. He kept chasing spotify streams and radio hits by dilluting his music more and more, which lead to the general public being fed up with his music and no stable fanbase to keep him afloat. Once he tried to straight up copy Taylor and go back to something rootsier and more artistic, it was too late. His latest three albums did pretty badly, with the last two particularly being Katy Perry level nuclear bombs just without the social media commentary around it. Meanwhile Gaga stuck to her guns (for the most part) and ended up weathering the 2013-2016 storm (when everyone thought she was done) and come out on top.

Of course he still has a huge career and his touring numbers prove that but I doubt he's satisfied with becoming a legacy act relatively soon in his career - he clearly thought he was sooo above that back then. Unless he somehow unexpectedly turns thing around (which seems unlikely since his multiple attempts failed at doing anything) it's now safe to say Gaga ended up outlasting him, so if that comment was indeed directed at her it must sting.
