American Requiem wins best opener. It's giving 60s or 70s epic.  In a weird way it reminds me of this

Oh absolutely, I'm That Girl had a good run but American Requiem is an Odyssey!

Her killing someone in the movie (Daughter) makes a lot of sense with some of the visuals we've seen and the theories you can faintly hear someone shouting "let me out of here" in the bg of some Renaissance songs... :deadbanana4:

I said this in the discord but "LEVII'S JEANS"-"AMEN" is a completely different album from 1-16 and she will not convince me otherwise. I swear, it's like she stop working on the album to work on "RENAISSANCE", picked it back up and kept the older song because "RENAISSANCE" sonically comes after the middle of this.

And then "AMEN" feels as tho the musical journey of the trilogy, but the end takes me either back to "I'M THAT GIRL" or the beginning of another album.

This is not a complaint, just an observation. I know how some of yall can't handle opinions 😅🤣☠️

does anyone else think based on lyrical clues the album was originally called RODEO, then BEYINCÉ then finally COWBOY CARTER :celestial5:

I forgot we still have more songs coming (at least 1, 2 if the target version is true)

I see why you would think that. The sections in the albums are slower with ballads and mid tempos and the last songs aren't but I don't think so.

Requiem is the beginning of a prayer and Amen the end. It's a spiritual experience, it's meant to be a pilgrimage through the South.

Unfortunately my iTunes download copy of YA YA can't be played in isolation because the track ends while she's still stinging :doc: I hope that gets fixed

I wanted to say that I like Shakira, I even danced to Waka Waka with her on stage, but these gals comparing them are so funny for me now

Shakiras new album is so generic while we are treated with quality

I need another tour. Could be a stripped down stage, vocal heavy.

imagine the collapse with a theatrical release for the visuals after act iii releases

like this is probably her biggest and most ambitious project ever and most likely one of the most important ever in pop culture

TYRANT :WAP: im sorry I'm speechless, don't even know how to react to this album omg. She always overdoes herself… how??

Daughter is the best, most vulnerable track on first listen. Just stunning. Ya Ya is the most entertaining.

But the 1234 closing punch between II Hands II Heaven, Tyrant, Sweet Honey Buckin and Amen is insane. She put a pause on the country and wrapped it up with hip hop, r&b and gospel. Such a masterpiece.

Just finished listening, it felt really long, maybe it was because I was tired but I found myself hoping some songs were interludes so the album would be done sooner :deadbanana:

There are a ton of standouts (American Requiem, Blackbird, Texas, Bodyguard, Jolene, Most Wanted, and more kinda forgot already)

However, this album is A LOT, whereas Renaissance felt like a tv episode (but very high quality) this album feels like a WWII documentary. Like yea it's good but damn ma

Im hoping after 2-3 listens it starts to click even more, I don't see a world where this genre attempt can surpass her bread and butter sound: Crazy in Love, Green Light, Dance For You, Drunk in Love. I will say I'm excited for Act III I believe that has the potential to be one of her best albums like Renaissance!

!!!

Congrats on the ones that are getting it fully on the first listen.

But I'm on the 2nd listen already and so much more clicked. I personally need a lot of time to digest this.

When she does another cliquebait teaser and posts the last 30 seconds of the AMEN video which lead directly into ITG...

But why does the end of Amen and the album sounds like we're being taken by an UFO to Act III?
