I’m assuming each album will get its own film but it’s still interconnected in some way. It could be a combined film (but I don’t want that) on one hand maybe the films cannot stand alone and need the other for context/to make the experience more worthwhile which means the delay for renaissance is arguably justified(ish). However if act 2 is more successful than renaissance as an album i can see act 2’s visuals completely overshadowing renaissance’s which would be a shame I don't think they're gonna be sequential in the film if they are combined. I think act i and act ii songs will be intermixed in that case

Starshine Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Renaissance outdoing a streaming giant like Ariana is kind of crazy to me. US first week streams: Rennie: 179m Position: 173m Eternal Sunshine: 115-125m prediction We need those preorders puta.
Chris Posted March 9 Posted March 9 If Rather Die Young can get a tour performance, I don't see why Green Light, Freakum Dress, Suga Mama, Jealous, Kitty Kat, No Angel, 6 Inch, & others can't.

Also Hold Up, Sorry, Freedom, Don't Hurt Yourself, Formation, 6 Inch is half of the album and none are midtempos nor ballads. Hell even Daddy Lessons swings!!! 1 hour ago, Burn said: When listening to the album version of AHAP it’s impossible to not hear the elements of the remix in my head. Cbreezy Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Done moaning for now lol, but one quick contextual bit to add to the preorder noise: Ariana Grande...with all her streams, #1 single, format variations, and a lengthy preorder frame is only predicted to do 165k-185k. In fairness, she has never been a huge first-week sales girl, but she is a huge artist. It just further highlights why everyone (Bey included) ought to be doing everything needed to snatch where possible because nothing (at all) is guaranteed. Especially with an album that drives left of what Bey's "usual" audience expects.

So true!! Hold Up is literally mid tempo sorry’s introduction is FIRE but then the song is boring :( freedom is unlistenable the way I hate this song is beyond the only songs I use are Formation and when I think of it 6 inch… Bday tho !? Banger and banger and banger. Same goes for Renaissance.
Chris Posted March 9 Posted March 9 We have fans hating on Lemonade? Go to church right now and repent please.
Chris Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Then when you're done, put Church Glass on blast and twerk your ass.

From all angles. E.g. the Act II visuals overshadow or the other way around. I don't doubt that Bey will successfully spin it all to her favor (she always does). Like, I highly doubt the GP are any the wiser about half the ish we complain about on here. But for we, the fans, it would be hella unfortunate if (for example) everyone is so enamored with the Texas, 16 Carriage, etc videos that the presumably epic videos for Alien, Cuff It etc fly under the radar. Or a scenario where the latter are so amazing that no one gives the Act II visuals their fair due. I kinda think that may be the one slight downside of this all. We'll see. 1

The fact that those 115-125M are on an album that’s 35 minutes long while Renneigh about 30 minutes, heck almost twice as long.

If they come at the same time, even better. Renaissance will get a big boost. People already know and love the songs and will be happy to finally see the visuals, while also appreciating the new stuff. Especially if it’s connected well 1

Well to be fair, that's an advantage to Renaissance. The longer the album/the more songs, the highest the chance of big numbers. Ariana is doing well for an 11-track album. 1

The biggest thing is how is she going to tie them in all together… what’s the story? BIK and Lemonade had somewhat of a story but it got help from poems/breaking it down to 11 chapters and the story of TLK. Whats the overall arc of this? Renaissance being born again, liberated, self assertion… what is Act 2 about? Could she please give a bit more info on this overall project?
Burn Posted March 9 Posted March 9 My theory is that the act 2 visuals are set before the act 1 visuals… E.g. the story starts with a country girl (act ii) who goes to the city (that scene of us seeing her drive off in the car in the act ii teaser) and then we go into the Renaissance visuals. 1

There is absolutely no way she will open with less than 300k, promo or no promo/marketing at all….be for real. Her brand equity still has a strong demand on consumers. You cannot seriously believe she will do over 300k without ANY pre-orders or multiple album versions. Those were the Act 1 numbers with pre-orders in advance, multiple boxes strategy, #1 single (the only thing she now has again). 2
Shelter Posted March 9 Posted March 9 I don’t want Bey to lose her number 1 streak. I want the physicals out

Renaissance being born again, liberated, self assertion… what is Act 2 about? Could she please give a bit more info on this overall project? I'm actually pretty confident in the story aspect of it. I think the initial chatter was about her being indoors/downtrodden, "escaping" to the world of Rennie and presumably now some throwback Country town for Act II and somewhere else for Act III. All on a journey of self-discovery. It's a pretty loose and adaptable story arc. Literal where need be, abstract where need be. Also, universal and pretty ever-green. Given that she avoids dialogue-based acting, I'm actually most interested in the visual devices she'll use to move the story along. Especially if she is the protagonist.

Have seen a few theories suggesting similar (about the story not being linear) and I'd be here for it. What I love about music and, in many ways Bey herself, is that the rules are that there technically aren't any rules. I just hope that this 2-part film concept proves true, because if we get the Act 1 & Act 2 visuals together now, there's no ambiguity about what we're getting for Act 3.
Rafael Posted March 9 Posted March 9 (edited) Any chance that lunatic naz* racist piece of trash Kanye will drop Vultures 2 on Bey's day? He should have released on the 8th. Imagine a song as big as carnival blocking her everywhere come 3/29 And now Future announced 2 f*cking new albums. 1 the week before Act 2 and 1 the week after This is sooo packed... oh my God Edited March 9 by Rafael .

Though I do "think" there for sure is a behind-the-scenes handshake agreement the big acts all have with each other to never drop on the same day (it's bad for business brand-wise). As for Future, he rarely does big numbers without a lead-in hit featuring Drake. So we're fine on that front. For all the moaning, I'm fairly confident even a fumbled release from Bey would still open at #1. It's just at the risk of being with so-so numbers. I guess we'll see.
Burn Posted March 9 Posted March 9 The only way Bey isn’t getting the #1 is if for some reason Taylor decides to release her album early, and we know that ain’t happening.
