She could've spent that time working in WDYLM or Daddy Lessons. And the encore song should've been EOT

:celestial5:

Don’t nobody wanna watch TexasBama line dancing again like we at the country bars.

WDYLM would’ve been amazing vocally and for audience participation, that breakdown was everything.

If I had to choose, Schoolin Life shoulda been the encore.

The set list is always going to look dreary and tired when it doesn’t have any Renaissance songs on it.

I’m glad she didn’t give Dubai the exclusive first performances of those songs.

She gave them a tired, dry set list and collected her check. At least she did something right in this  debacle.

What I can’t get my head around is her releasing an album championing LGBT rights and then performing for the first time since its release in Dubai :biblio: Does that mean our fave would be willing to throw our gay asses under the bus to collect a check? I don’t like it but what can we do.

I’m an bi top anyway so I can play both sides. But all you gay bottoms would be f’ed :chick1:

How do we know she didn't have this event booked before even recording renaissance? That would explain why the setlist is all old stuff. In any event, I don't think she's meaning any harm to anyone. I mean, Kylie Minogue was just hosting and performing in the exact same place over New Years and I don't remember anyone here throwing a fit and we all know she's an even bigger gay icon than Bey. Bey probably charged them and arm and a leg for an only 1 hour performance because she's using that money to fund a very gay Rena tour lol. When you look at it that way, it's kind of a flex. This Dubai interlude will be a blip by the time the tour gets underway.

It would be really cool and legendary if Crazy In Love reaches 1 billion streams by the time of its 20th anniversay this May.

Where is it now?

I really wish Apple Music released #s but I actually appreciate how that platform feels more about the music than Spotify.

On Spotify, it's at 829,714,417 streams. I think it's doable.

I'm over the Dubai discourse period. I'm ready for the concert to come and go so we can get to the GRAMMYs/ tour announcement.

Who flipped? :celestial5:

I hope that wasn't a reference to my post about being jealous.

From the get go I never cared about her performing in Dubai and stressed that multiple times...but I had no time for people doing the hyperbolic "we're all part of a capitalist society" to dismiss others fair critique, or people claiming that it's her "job" reducing her career, politics  and discerned agency over her career, to a mere performer for pay.

As I suspected Dubai is not as politicised as people were projecting, her team probably didnt even flag the issue/optics. They didn't even flag "Spaz" in Heated :rip:

Spoiler

In case anyone was still wondering why Rocket and Flawless were re-uploaded, it’s because of Youtube’s new strict policy that automatically age restricts videos that have:

-Cussing in the first few seconds of the video (rocket)

-Recordings of children (Girls Tyme in Flawless)

every day that app goes more downhill:gaycat6:

nn. :lmao:Drag ha!

That said, I know you’re probably joking, so I’m speaking more generally, but the social justice discourse always tickles me cause the US is just so much worse than most places. Think about it, starting wars, racism, homophobia, sexism… like women just lost the right to their bodies in places like Texas, her home state. But it’s a given that performers don’t boycott the states.

The worst thing Dubai has done is basically said “no PDA” and “don’t have gay sex” (which was also a law in Texas until 2003… and guess how many times Bey performed there :eli:). Compared to the entire ****** up history of the US empire, e.g interned Vietnamese people in camps, the only country to drop an atomic bomb, bombing your own citizens, political assassinations, etc, it’s like…. let’s be ******* for real. While the US was pumping crack into black neighborhoods in the 80s, Dubai was just a desert. :rip: There should be no moral conflict about Bey performing there. Saudi Arabia, Russia, and Israel maybe, but if we’re drawing lines, then her next tour can only have European dates (if you ignore the history of colonization, that is :priceless:).

Maybe she can just do Brazil this era.  :giraffe:
