I mean, it’s Gaga’s first official Top 10 on Billboard Pop Songs since Do What U Want, so it may have disappointed but she’s got that :clap3:

It’s weird how it’s smashing in Canada and a lot of other countries but the US was just like meh.

I really think pop radio needs to hold different artists to different standards with the callouts thing. It seems like if you're a woman over a certain age and do a unashamedly pop song it'll bomb callouts :rip:

Maroon 5 does well across all platforms, so to single them out is irrelevant to whatever point you're making

yeah I don't believe there is such a thing as "pull a single from radio", as tons of stans say. Especially considering we have examples of artists having two songs smashing at the same time (Harry Styles most recently).

if anything, label stop promoting/investing money on a song, but it's radio will to stop playing, playing it a bit less or keep going.

18 hours ago, gotportugal said:

exactly, I'm not getting the pulling the plug thing like...

"Pull the plug" in this case means stop promoting it from the label's side, which we know is true because Rain On Me disappeared from Interscope's radio promo site just as the big decreases started. Radio could have of course decided to continue playing it, but that's unfortunately not the case. However, because these big drops only started happening after Interscope stopped pushing it, we can attribute the sudden drops to that more so that to the stan drivel "radio poison!!1!", although admittedly Gaga not being in pop radio's favor anymore is definitely a factor in the drops as well.

At the end of the day, Rain On Me could have done more, but it still did very well for a female artist in her 30's and in her 12th career year. :clap3:

So is Lewis going #1 after Harry? :deadbanana: Blinding Lights back to a positive spin update? :deadbanana:

Why were Dua/Balvin/Bunny and Taylor’s updates do bad today? I understand rolling but neither had a deal or a great start.

Also - once you get over the excitement of Gaga and Ari collabing the song is really not that great. Video is great, but the song is just another pop song.

Canada radio clearly looks at US callouts and mimics their charts. They already started dropping ROM and Be Kind, despite them SMASHING on Canadian radio. Be Kind reached #8, and ROM #2 on pop, but once they started freefalling on US Pop, Canada (like always) followed the US chart.

There are some stations that conduct their own local surveys so these songs are able to keep charting longer (one of which has a daily top 6@6 which Be Kind is usually #1). But I’ve observed this pattern for many years now, the Canadian chart seems to be 1 week behind the US chart, except for certain songs that are exceptions, and the added CanCon songs.

It could grow: 10M from Pop, around 15M from HAC and let's say 2M from AC (cause songs always tend to take time to take off there). WS' peak should be a little bigger than AY, around 130M.

ROCKSTAR depends basically on how Pop embraces this song, and it has a bright potential right now, it already reaches its maximum on both Rhythmic and Urban. So yeah, it could possibly dethrone BL in the next weeks and be close blocking WS.

It's smashing everywhere except the US, but unfortunately it kinda became the norm for her. For a quick comparison, look at Chromatica & folklore's Spotify 1st day numbers. They had the exact same amount of streams outside the US, yet the final difference was around 30M, and that coming ONLY from the US.
