Urban radio is great and it is the best way to have a long career as a black artist cause pop radio will play you for 2 or 3 eras and then dish you for good when Urban radio is loyal AF... I meant she could have had access to pop radio & international market ON TOP of Urban radio... not INSTEAD of it. Luther did it perfect.. I always wondered why she never toured with him overseas... cause their music is such a perfect match and he could have introduced her to his overseas fanbase. But now I know he too couldn't stand her guts (& Luther was no Angel himself. EnVogue have a lot to say about him when they were his opening act) With a voice like that & such an immaculate catalog, she could be Ursula in flesh and will still be able to tour imo. I first heard her in my friend's car in 2015. He played FAIRY TALES. Radio has always been a chart gate-keeper sadly. They won't play certain topics and would have never supporter Kill Bill if it was not for the power of streaming makin it very awkward for top40 radio to ignore it. But people would still buy and nowadays they can stream. Also chart rules: In most of the 2000s, Chart points were 99% dependent on radio in the US as singles were dead, & itunes and streaming did not come until later in the decade. In the 90s, even if a single was #1 on radio, it would not chart unless it was released as a single: ie Lauryn Hill's Doo *** (That Thing)

Honey' I grew up to that imagery all over tv. What are you talking about? Anybody who's seen a few movies based in Japan (or really any Asia country as we know Hollywood don't mind mis-matching cultures). Rush Hour & Rising Sun are 2 quick classics that come to mind.

Gaga debut was huge commercially but she did put 2 eras into 1 and still did not get the acclaim or stadium status at that time… while Taylor enjoys: hit maker, album smasha, Grammy darling & stadium status all at once. & she’s not smashing with 1 era, she’s smashing a 15 year long discography with everything charting. Her re-recording are bigger than most of Gaga s album. So the swifties are kinda mild compared to what the hives or the monster would be doing now if their faves was that successful.

It’s not an obscure practice so I’m not sure what’s the problem.
