The way the US just lags six months behind with every Dua single is absolutely silly at this point. Watch Houdini reach a new peak in May the week before the album, while TS finds its way to the top 10 in August while the rest of the world is already bopping to the fourth single.

Music videos are already a budget eater for labels, and given that they already scrapped a high budget mv for this song, I was never expecting a big one here... No one is trying to make a good music video these days so the fact that this is the main concern for most people with Dua shows everyone her place in pop... she's the it girl

The main critique being that the song is too big for the video tells you all you need to know... this will be a smash

I feel like every song (or at least every single) will have an extended version that's the "real" version. This type of music is usually meant to be longer in length, so I think the "official" versions are actually the edited versions tbh

I expect this to debut slightly better than Houdini did. There is more buzz surrounding this one and the early promotional efforts are there. I hope it out-debuts by a lot but not expecting it.

People asked Dua's team to push Dua's personality and they are. They asked for a performance and she gave one on the biggest stage. Now people want higher TTH placement when this song had ample time at #1 there early on... Most promotional efforts do not have the effect that people want to believe they have. Grammy performances are usually not even impactful. This was the first year in a while that the show actually gave songs a significant boost... but there's a reason why Houdini is getting by far the smallest boost among every song that was performed this weekend... the US just didn't like this one. It's unfortunate but it's very typical of the US to reject good songs in favor of bad ones (this holds true even for Dua; see Cold Heart, a song that got absolutely no promo whatsoever, was a generally weak effort for her, yet was a huge hit in the US) The team has put a strong effort in place to promote TS. Performing the song unreleased at the Grammys and luring locals in with the text community were both brilliant ideas. If TS underperforms in the US, it's clearly not going to be the fault of her team.

I don't know how anyone can act like the 70s/80s inspired dance pop is tired when that's quite literally the sound of the current #1 song on the Hot 100. the gp clearly is not tired of this style of pop at all. You can also tell almost everyone here is just a success stan because the same people that clowned on Houdini are now acting like they always loved Houdini as its gradually climbing the charts everywhere.

People keep trying to say it sounds safe and sounds like a FN throwaway but then they can never explain which FN song it sounds like... Obviously Houdini is too ambitious for a lot of "pop" stans online. If it's not Max Martin or Dr. Luke then it's too weird for some.

I love this song and I love the extended even more... I get why people don't like it but I actually enjoy the "unfinished" aspect of it... it feels like a live in LA cut and I wish more artists would release stuff like that more often.

Taylor actually went on to stay #1 on this week. I don't remember how she made up those extra 20 points... Brenda lost to Mariah by about 2 points that week, and Mariah beat her by 15+ points every week for the rest of the holiday season. Real points on this current prediction are 25,628 for Mariah, and 25,598 for Brenda, that's a difference of 0.3 points... definitely the closest Brenda has ever been this late in a tracking week. I always wonder what Billboard would do if there's ever an actual tie down to the decimal...

I never really believed this was going to be another DSN. The song is too unique for American listeners in particular. Tame Impala is well respected but has never charted on the Hot 100. This will probably go down as Dua's most critically acclaimed work, but likely her least commercially successful as well. DL1 and FN are extremely difficult to match. She is Dua though, we will see in 6-8 months!

Oh yeah, she just has the first and third most streamed female albums of all-time, the only woman ever to have the biggest female hot 100 hit back-to-back years (one of which is now officially the biggest female hot 100 hit of all-time), the only ARTIST (male OR female) to ever win six brits over just two albums, constantly praised by some of pop's biggest legends, currently selling out every American venue, and had 3% of the Chilean population trying to buy tickets to her show that sold out instantly. Definitely not a MPG Also, SP is the biggest debut by any pop girl so far this year. like, by far... it's not close at all...
