  1. THESE ARE MY FAVORITE PARTS TOO This song dominated my summer of 2015. I really like your mention that so many songs in your top 10 have like an "upgrade" in the song - and to a non-music expert that's the first that thought has ever come into my head That idea Wait this whole bit is soooooooooooooooooo beautiful and actually really cute. Like so cute This was a smart idea and honestly, yeah, I'm left feeling happy and so I get it. I'm very happy with this #1 and this whole countdown in general. You should be proud And I can really see the love and fun you put into this and that passion is great
  2. "Part of the genius is that I Got a Boy is disjointed for a reason--it’s written as a conversation between a group of girls with different perspectives and opinions on love and relationships." I NEVER SAW IT LIKE THIS OMG. Your MIND (or I'm just stupid nnnn) OMG. "I Got a Boy is the textbook example of a beautiful mess. I was listening to this song a few times a day back in 2013 and I still got chills every time. It’s one of the most divisive songs in all of K-pop, with those who hate the disjointment insisting it’s one of the worst K-pop songs ever released, and those who love the disjointment insisting it’s one of the best. The only thing that pretty much everyone can agree on is the fact that it has become one of the most infamous and influential K-pop songs of all time, and in my opinion, it’s unquestionably earned that status." BUT YESSSS I can't believe they got #2 omg it's SOOOOO SO SO deserved! I played this daily pretty much since release until Mr.Mr. came out. This is so iconic and it really was game-changing. Nowadays we have disjointment on the regular from popular groups but back then people ABHORRED this song. Everything from the roll-out, the wait (no SNSD comeback in 2012), to the MV, to the song, to the album, to the performances, to the wins... iconic
  3. BTW, do you like any of SNSD's Korean music? Besides I guess Trick, Oscar, IGAB, and The Boys (since you mentioned them) You know yesterday I streamed Dreamcatcher's entire discography and their music is actually really good! It's actually so unfair to them that I haven't listened to them much
  4. "The reason I listen to pop music in the first place is because of my short attention span" AKDCKLSADMCS the self-awareness omg I love this, King/Queen!!! Same though nnnn. The "pop"s in the chorus are literally ICONIC ugh I feel so nostalgic now omg 2011 was the year I really got into K-pop so even though this isn't one of my favorites, it still really is iconic and timestamps a notable place in my heart. BEG were really underrated, I agree. I think the amount of input they had (that shows in their experimental music) is a testament to who they are as artists. Like... they LITERALLY are one of the only girl groups who still get together, love each other, and make music like? BEG stans are lucky
  5. The Christmas gift graphic omg this is all so cute! #4 is cute Never was super big into Loona though ngl
  6. Also ALL of these top 10 graphics have been like... top-notch. None of that Piano Man stuff (no shade sis )
  7. The way I'm not even SURPRISED at it making top 5 omg. I swear it has to be one of the most used K-pop songs ever in Youtube remixes and mashups. Which makes sense because it's such an amazing song but WHEW. I swear earlier this year I was STILL finding out new mashups with this song that sounded great That being said I love this placement for it. You're right, I always had a playlist of electronic K-pop songs with this, Step, Abracadabra, etc. but I never noticed the similarities between them until now
  8. OMG MY WIG I'M NOT EXAGGERATING MY OLD SONE SOUL ROSE UP AND TEARED UP AT THIS INCLUSION. I usually find one really good line or two I want to quote but this entire write-up is quote-worthy UGH!!! The appraise!! "The rest of the bridge possesses what I think is by far the most tastefully executed dubstep break in all of K-pop--or, really, all of pop in general." And I think your recollection of your friend sending it to you is SO adorable I can relate. The early days of getting into K-pop and hearing such amazing songs are such fond memories. I love that for us
  9. #7's GRAPHIC Fits PERFECTLY and what the song deserves. OMG really did that and SOOOO young into their career too. It's definitely making it high into my ranking. I'm really sad they reverted to standard cute/quirky girl group after that
  10. "And then, of course, it all climaxes in that now infamous high note for the grand finale. Not only is it incredibly high-pitched, but it’s also incredibly long, running for a whopping 12 seconds straight. Because it isn’t just one note, it’s three--three notes that take the most precise vocal control possible" OH WOW It's been a real pleasure reading all this technical stuff about songs I've loved for years - even if I don't get any of it dkclamsdklcads No wonder she settles for such soft songs now nnnn her vocals were DEAD after it. But yeah, that high note has to be one of the most iconic high notes of all-time in K-pop
  11. (I have a response to notable entries to me that I'll post after the finale)
  12. OH WOW OMG. I was NOT expecting #10. But #9...
  13. Good because I need to finish going through 30-current while gaming right now and I am SAD because I got stood up today Please mention me when the finale starts!!!
  14. Omg YESSS WAIT. I'm so sorry nnnnn I've been disassociating from this site because of all the drama that's been going on with one of my faves. Lemme go through all I missed!
  15. Is Who & Jazz Club - omg you weren't kidding at the swing kalmdklas;mcasd. I'm honestly not much of a swing person but Is Who is really good! Apple Pie - I'm HELLA surprised this was on people's radar. I swore most people swore off Fiestar with this and preferred their sexy songs over it. I LOVED this song And this graphic was so cute!! Really refreshing, bright, and different from the rest of the others so far - which fits the song Do It - One of Hyuna's best title tracks!!! WHEW. What a ****ing club BANGER The bass in the chorus is ****ing everything! Red, Roll Deep, and Do It were such a 1-2-3 punch Shadow - OMG SHADOW IS ONLY #56????? WOOOOOOOOOOOW HOLY. That's insane. This is really, truly iconic. For sure one of the best b-sides. I really love how your co-writer described it! I can feel that pain of having to cut it Airplane - "In spite of being professionally described as “Reversed EDM” (I still have no clue what that is and it’s literally the only time I’ve ever seen the term used in my entire life)" K-pop's descriptions for songs will never not amuse me. But GEEZ the back-to-back f(x) punching omg. This is really another among the best b-sides. I agree that the glitching/robotic talking in the chorus makes it THAT much better.
  16. Omg I had such a wild night and I didn't expect ATRL to go down kasmdkclasdcasd but YESSS. Rushed through the last elimination and Volume Up, Hobgoblin, Decalcomanie, and WHEN I'M ALONE MAKING IT WOOOO. When I'm Alone was one of the highlights of 4 Walls and their discography I agree and I defo agree that when it came out, that album was overhyped as hell
  17. I'm about to get lit as **** tonight but I will be checking in when I sober up I'm already SO surprised LIE made it because... yeah the airhorns But I played the hell out of it 2016 summer and STREET was such a great album. I will still be shook at Hani's handjob/pepper thing nnn. EXID really took innuendos to he next level
  18. True. IDK, girl. I'm over stan culture and arguing, it's the main reason I'm leaving this site after this month, after I've been gone for a few months already. I recognize this era is a huge underperformance and I'm personally ready for Camila to go back to struggling. I especially realize after such a big year for Ariana, Billie, Lizzo, Taylor, and Gaga, Camila's public image isn't nearly as recognizable and big as any of theirs yet. She might get bigger, or she might not. But I'm not gonna let that stop me from enjoying the music. Wish you a great gaming winter and holidays
  19. Well, yeah, most us fans think Camila isn't big enough to pull off double singles like Ed Sheeran can. I said so the very day she released it. And most us fans have said it's clear she chose the WRONG singles, seeing as My Oh My is taking off now and a couple other songs would have been better over Liar and Shameless. I've said that Camila's stupid choices and her team letting her make them are what caused this era to flop. But I definitely think if she just released the album a month or two after Senorita, the album would've done better.
  20. If she released the album close to Senorita, not 5-6 months after it, then maybe her figures would be different. She also released 5 singles (the first two being a messy double single strategy) after Senorita with no clear push or promotion. She practically did zero promotion (besides playlisting) until the AMAs. This is the fruit of the awful strategy her and her team employed.
  21. Yeah akca;klcamkcads granted, back in 2015 when they debuted - despite me highkey hating SNSD for the whole Jessica thing (which I'm now totally over) - I thought they were SNSD rip-offs Omg wtf 9muses being your top artist??? In 2019??? I don't judge jk nnn. But wait so they're out for good??? What are your thoughts on Choice and Drama then? And Not a goodbye single I really wonder what they're doing because it feels like after they dropped Butterfly they've just been posting boy group dance covers??? They actually have something going for them with their international and solid Korean fanbase
  22. OMG YESSSSS ELVIS JIRIT JIRIT ELVIS!!!! I loved AoA since they debuted and while I was totally on board with their sexy bops and newfound success starting in 2014, I always had a special place in my heart for their debut sound. This is honestly SO catchy. Suuuuuper glad this made top 100 of the decade. I wonder if any of their sexy songs will make the rate? The SNSD shade though This was really good!!! As I recall, this was AFTER Mask, I think? Mask was SUCH A GREAT, SENSUAL SONG BTW From Marionette to Mask to Sting (and later Vibrato WHEW A ****ING SONG ) Stellar was a 3/3 for me with Sting. I liked how it wasn't so dark and gloomy compared to Marionette and Mask. Mainly because I saw those YT videos where they were like signing for help or something and people were scared they went the sexy route For me personally, I might have it in the 90s or honorable mentions but it's so cute still. Oh wow I never heard this??? Crayon Pop kind of ruined trot for me akdcmkalsdmcas;casd but this is REALLY cute
  23. Flashback - OMG WHAT? I can't at you saying you loved the dubstep craze akdkclamdcklascas. *shudders in LMFAO* Jkjk, but Flashback was such a bop. After School has to be one of the HARDEST working girl groups in the K-pop scene at least. The amount of attention their eras had was insane! In my mind, I always saw Flashback as like the sort of natural progression of the whole electronic T-ara sound. (Which I guess makes sense since T-ara went full on EDM later) Me Gustas Tu - Awww! GFriend's rise was so unexpected but I'm glad they got their minutes of fame since Me Gustas Tu is literally SO catchy and was so fresh at the time. Like 3rd generation girl groups were still trying to find their identity at the start of 2014/2015, this was so different and unique... well, for the time. I remember weirdly hating them for trying to "copy" SNSD and even having their own knock-off Jessica (hardcore Sone 2010-2014) Wild - YESSSSSS an old 9muses entry!!! Wild really was just that good and the fact so many K-pop fans back then and now think so just shows it should've been their breakthrough. I'm literally so bitter it wasn't. The key change is so iconic. Ugh Catallena - This is SO iconic omg only #77 I-. But I get what you mean, the chanting is actually really annoying. I remember a few years back, I had a resurgence in wanting to listen to OC and at one point with this on repeat I was like, '... wait I'm actually getting annoyed' akcmaklscmascas Sonatine - "Alright, time to finally cut the BS: I have no idea what I’m doing here. I don’t know anything about music. I just have a lot of free time and a lot of enthusiasm. So, when it comes to an incredibly intricate song like Sonatine, which has a music sheet that would have Mozart’s head spinning, I have no choice but to just cut straight about my fraudulence. I have no authentic clue as to what the real chords are for this song. I spent an entire day working on replicating it in hooktheory, and was at a complete loss until contacting the immensely talented Eric Lee, who very kindly made what was basically a Sonatine For Dummies music sheet--and I STILL couldn’t complete it. " Holy ****, I can't believe it's THAT complex? I knew it was really complex but I never knew it was THAT hard. I love this song so much. Honestly, I find Loona overrated a lot of the time but in times like this I think maybe their stans have some right to say that akkcmaklcmasdcas. I want them to go back to releasing music like their pre-debut songs. For some reason they just had it way better with the units and stuff? Love the placement though Dream of Clara - omg what I've NEVER heard this before but this is such a rare sound to hear in K-pop. Very pretty!
  24. Since you love Paula Abdul so much, did you do hers?
