I think it's up to Billboard to decide what it's meant to be.

And they have....and I agree with the decision.

That it's about overall consumption? Same. :cm:

Billboard aren't saying this though. You're saying this, Billboard are saying it's about revenue.

You literally just said it's up to Billboard to decide, and they have, and I agree.

Free Steams are not Paid Streams and shouldn't be reflected as such.

Except songs still count equally no matter the price.

This is Billboard having to give in to the delusions of a emotionally-wrecked industry unable to realize its future.

Youtube will eventually become a huge force within both the singles and albums charts. Delaying it just makes the industry look silly.

This article said paid streams are worth more though :rip:

What are you even talking about?

I’m talking about digital tracks. It’s anti-streaming posturing to claim this is about revenue when no changes are being made to digital tracks.

Okay, but end of the day, Billboard recognise paid content is worth more, not overall consumption.

I’ll wait until they lower the weight of discounted songs and eliminate radio from their formula before agreeing with that conclusion. :cm:

This is really good tbh. It’s overall fair.

@Communion

that's good one.

they don't do weight on discounted track or album. lol

anyway this decision is better.

shame on them not including youtube, they were scared by negative campaign from hdd.

hope they changed their mind.

recent update shows that paid streams passd free streams. so... it's not that bad situation for hiphop at all.

It seems like most people are ignoring the point. This chart change helps the industry which is operating on a broken system.

what are they gonna do about the 2nd half of the stuff they list though?

(iv) how to address the increase in, and uniqueness of, sales of music through direct-to-consumer offers, (v) whether to modify what’s allowable for concert ticket/album bundle sale redemption offers, and (vi) how to address the rise of promotions that incentivize consumer streaming.

Billboard is trying to save face after their messiness.

This is how it should have always been. If it's a paid subscription it should have more weight.

Also, they need to address Tidal's shadiness and corrupt numbers.
