  • It's clear this is just a made up PR story by Gaga and her team to try and justify why she added the song to her album.

  • Do you really think anyone outside of us terminally online gays cares about this?

  • a true liddos sophie's choice.... deal with JFAD to get one of the biggest hits of all time, or never have Joker and DWAS

When a major movie studio greenlights a song to be produced specifically to promote the movie, traditionally the song itself contains references to the movie itself

Example:

Titanic / my heart will go on

the song's lyrics are about letting go of that long heartbreak - just like in the themes of the movie

From this, it couldn't be more obvious that Die with a smile was purely intended as the single to accompany Joker

It couldn't be more clear - Die with a SMILE, smile being the signature feature of the Joker character, and DIE as it happens in the film

plus the release of the song and video at the same time as the movie dropped, and the clothing in the music video resembling the same style as when in the movie they attend the tv studio - all the signals are there

No matter how much others may deny it, Die with a smile was originally intended for Joker 🃏🫶

Did you stream Bandaids today? It's barely scraping 200k sis gaygacat5

Am I the only one that thought the song would be attached to JFAD when it was released? I mean just the title alone 'Die With A Smile' seemed so fitting of the movie. Bruno writing the rough demo and thinking it was fitting for JFAD so he reached out to Gaga, a musician who was also in the movie, just makes complete sense.

I honestly wonder if it was going to be attached to Harlequin or the JFAD soundtrack and Gaga saw the finished movie in mid-2024 and her cut down parts in the film and decided to separate the song from the movie? Or perhaps felt that the song no longer fit with the final version of the movie? It seems logical to me.

Gaga's not one to release standalone singles very often at all and prefers to attach them to an album or era, so I wonder if she ended up attaching it to Mayhem after not attacking it to JFAD and its musical endeavors. I honestly wish she'd release more standalone singles without needing an entire album, but that's just not her.

Obviously in today's streaming world, attaching songs to an album is a no-brainer and many artists do it. It's nothing new either. Artists have been adding hit standalone singles to their albums for decades to help sell the album.

Yes this exactly! I talked about it in my post above. The name alone made me think it was related to the movie. And it does fit with the tv studio part of the movie. I honestly think Gaga saw the movie in mid-2024 and perhaps wasn't a fan of the final product so she pulled it.

she should've put DWAS on Harlequin instead

Someone theorized on GGD that DWAS might've been for Harlequin to launch along with the movie as a single, but she pulled it and stuck Happy Mistake on the album instead. Happy Mistake doesn't quite fit with the rest of Harlequin and it has BloodPop production credits. It was a leftover from her earlier pre-Mayhem post-Chromatica sessions with BloodPop from 2020-2022 timeframe methinks.

I wonder if they had left the song attached to JFAD and Harlequin/the soundtrack if the movie bombing and huge backlash would've tarnished the song at the time deadbanana4

A smart move if they indeed did pull it from JFAD involvement. bird

Thank you godga for the biggest song of all time

The way Gaga simultaneously dodged the biggest JFAD bullet and saved her own career in both music and film clap3

Does Cruel Summer going number one in 2024 retroactively give Taylor a number one in 2019….or does it count as a number one in 2024?

Well, I kinda agree with you, but it didn't mean I agreed with the narrative of "It's a Bruno song she just hopped on it."

This song wouldn't be a thing without Gaga; there wouldn't be DWAS without Bruno, it's THEIR song, and they made one of the biggest hits of all time, only legends.

I'm so glad they didn't put it on the Joker soundtrack or that Joker album she did ryan3

Now no she should not have ahh

That poor song would be instantly tarnished for the fact that it would be associated with that flop movie that everyone hates
