Why is Woman's World underperforming?

Recommended Posts

i really think she went back to dr.luke and they did a deal to put this song out first to soften the PR but alls it's done is made her worse. katy legit has the best team in pop, the bought social media to inflate her stats, all the promotion she gets but they still don't know how to simply put out a good song

kesha's song is a complete headache, but she's gone back to peak'kesha' without it being dated she's gonna to get her own 'padam'. Things like SL and Womans World are not the way to ride this nostalgia trend in music

Because there is no artistic development and growth in her music. But still Taylor Swift has even less growth and still manages to manipulate the charts.

Yeah, cuz sure Debut, Reputation, Folklore & Midnights sound all the same…Confused Over It GIF

From my expectations it's kinda over performing...it's always relative in life.

1M in 11 hours is something very much expected from Katy. Not surprising

Also, there's no need to pander that hard to gays anymore. We're a minority that's only loud on Twitter. Pop girls need to move on from this (just look at Taylor).

Underperforming basing on... What metrics? It's not like she's the it girl to the gp by any means anymore, if anything for most she's the fun boppy nostalgia act coming back for a bit without too many expectations.

But I thought the GP was liking her twitter posts (katycats told me) so it would a guaranteed success

even Houdini made like 15M first day.

The problem of youtube nowadays is people then listen on spotify (while years ago they continue to stream a video on youtube to listen to the song) so after the first day or week the views of a video totally die. But in the first days you can still make good views, especially if you invest on making a video with visuals and everything.

Like, what's the point of that? If you look at certain Twitter memes (brat, Padam, etc etc), you'll see that that doesn't make those songs/artists mega successful. It isn't 2016 anymore, indeed. And we're not the dominant force of pop culture. It's the white girls. In fact, they're the ones who discovered and supported people like Sabrina, Olivia or Chappell Roan first.

Read the room, Katy Perry.

But dua is not the norm, neither is Miley, how much did the rest of Miley videos debut with?

This ***** has 30m playlisting and NO TTH... It's OVER over. For comparison Houdini had 140M playlisting, TTH, and more. Even I expected a flop, but no support from her own label is COMICAL. They had money to put Small Talk on TTH #1 AND COVER.

This is such a stupid argument.

Small Talk came after never really over, ofcourse the label would feel more confident in investig in that t*rd. Also witness for all its bad was a #1 album and lasted some time on bb200.

This t*rd is coming after multiple out-out songs or songs that peaked in 80s. Smile performance was disastrous.

She has no value for Capitol anymore beyond her catalogue streams, it doesn't matter if she is serving horrible music like small talk/woman world or good songs like HIH/CAIL. No smart label would invest in her. Its always about momentum.

always has been. Britney dominated in 1998 cause white girls and girls in general loved her. Once she changed to became the new Madonna to appeal only to gay clubs her sales became 1/10. Madonna herself in the 80s was an icon for young women (her full transition to gay icon comes after). Alanis, Shania, Whitney, Mariah, celine, Adele...their success was at peak in certain eras because of women not gays.

If it debuts with 2M streams it'll be a hit for her but it's gonna plummet

I don't understand who the target demographic of this song is meant to be. The surface level girlboss "feminism" isn't going to attract a young women or girls. The video is clearly made for straight men but they're not going to listen to the song. I guess she's aiming for soccer mums/older millennial women?

Yeah, duh, but she saw some goodwill even though the Smile era was a huge bomb. They could've at least tried one last time to put her on there and spend some coin on her.
