Afterglow Posted July 23 Posted July 23 She should have gone full 00's nostalgia. FAU was great, and she should have kept that most natural pop/rock idea. Tears was super random and while it's a fine song, it makes no sense with FAU. Her niche could've been the Cali-vibes beachy pop/rock girl for this album. 2
tbhmatt Posted July 23 Posted July 23 She just needs to continue releasing music, she's got the talent. She tried something with this and it didn't quite work out, but that's ok. She can just forget it happened and try again. She got a very positive reception to that food podcast she did recently, her team need to market her in an Adele/relatable kind of way and release more "AC" leaning music. It's ok to admit that her core audience is not going to be the same as someone like Jade, for example. The people that want to hear Perrie's music are the people that want to hear her SINGING. This single/video very much feels like she's doing an impersonation of a pop star because she thinks that's what people want from her. 3

Thats's sweet and all but labels dont have endless resources, when nothing sticks... at some point they drop the artists. They will take a young 'cash cow' or something. The music industry is ageist and vile. I dont get why artists especially commercially successful ones dont think about this aspect when selecting the songs. If you want to have a career you need bangers and songs that are gonna grap people's attention. I love Perrie, a great vocalist indeed but the material isnt up to par. 1
Cqmerqn Posted July 23 Posted July 23 I fear that we'll get one more single and then that'll be it. 1

I get what you're saying but they aren't going to completely drop her after two singles, dddd. Leigh-Anne's first two singles did very disappointingly on the charts and the label still let her release a 6-song EP and she's re-launching again with a new single in September. It's way too early to start talking about any of them being dropped They just need to rebrand and relaunch. 1

SweetTalker Posted July 24 Posted July 24 This is easily one of the best songs of the year. I get it's not what many fans were expecting, but as a very occasional listener, this is so fkn good lol. .
Dragonfly Posted July 24 Posted July 24 As someone who randomly came across it, I really like this song
Sazare Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Finally listened to this. It's cute but sounds absolutely nothing like her. Def a step up from her other song tho
Sexyzinger Posted July 25 Posted July 25 I was kind of obsessed with Tears for a few weeks after it dropped but it's aged like milk already for me After all the insider leaks saying every song she has recorded is bad, her label should seriously force her back into the studio and this time come up with a cohesive concept for the album. I want her to branch out of these HAC songs and do something actually interesting. I think she should go with an album of David Guetta/Kelly Rowland style bops, updated with a more modern production. I think she could see a lot of success there. @Walk_Away21

She needs fresh and great pop songs but the label is a mess seems like they dont know how to make her happen, what image brand etc... the narrative etc. Edited July 25 by kayliah 2
tbhmatt Posted July 25 Posted July 25 I'm really surprised they're even bothering trying to push this song dddd, it was dead on arrival with a do not resuscitate order for good measure! I feel like they're testing the waters with a more adult contemporary sound, the I'd Rather Go Blind cover and now a piano version of this.

Instead of released 100 versions of a song that is already dead, they should focus on promoting her name more and have her do more live performances. Yes, the material so far is not ideal but Perrie's vocals nd charisma will be enough to make her gain a more positive reception.

I could see them reducing the budget like Warner did, but they wouldn't drop her just because the first two singles didn't smash. At least FAU did better and was more stable on Top 100 UK Singles chart. But they need to rebrand her. If the insiders are honest and the songs she has currently recorded are not good, they need to record better tracks like Leigh-Anne did. It's better to delay the album if the sound is mediocre, besides, Perrie doesn't have a strong fanbase to back her up. I really hope the next single will be stronger.

Her management team doesn't know how to manage her at all. There are no cohesive promo plans and the choice for Tears after Forget About Us was very random.
The Slayer Posted July 26 Posted July 26 Sounds great but wish it was a better song.. It's a fine song but she can do better.

Topaz Posted July 27 Posted July 27 I truly believe new artist should be able to release as many singles until it sticks. Having them release once or twice a year is so harmful in the long run. Tyla kept dropping, Camila did that too before she had Havana, Zara Larsson, Dua Lipa, Doja Cat until something stuck. Keep sis in the studio and dropping. 1

I just don't understand how both of these girls were prepping up their solo drops for 2 years, inside the major label system, and ended up with fillers and scraps. Especially Perrie. I thought she'd come out with the strongest material.

So far Leigh-Anne has done great, DSL was just the wrong lead choice and My Love was one of the best LM solo serves and still the best video imo. She's been consistent. But idk what Perrie's management is up to but it seems like they have no clue at the moment. 2

They don't know how to promote her, the material so far is not it...They need to change their strategy ASAP. 1
