Without Madonna, Taylor would be the same because tay has never done the desperate and classless things that Madonna has done through her thousand years on the planet.

Taylor literally went to become a pop star because she saw a bigger profit from that. She started imitating the established pop artists, and that will always mean Madonna since she redefined what it meant to be a pop star.

And to respond to your ageist comment, remember Taylor is also growing older. She's no longer an artist in her prime.

Sis Taylor is about to go on a 51 sold out stadium European Leg. Do you really think that Madonna's show changed anything?

No matter how many records Taylor sells or any future artist

Madonna is in her own league

Taylor had over a million Brazilians in line to buy Eras Tour tickets, she could do this easily with a free concert in any city globally:chick1:

Madonna won't debut with 2m in a single week... however, taylor will never get 13 albums to sales of over 10 million copies.

Hence why it's inconclusive to compare. I genuinely think this obsession with labelling newer/younger popstars (Before someone tells me Taylor is not new, I know. She's still young and at her peak, though) as 'The new *insert name here*' comes from nostalgia now that monoculture is kind of dead. Being a huge popstar is just different now. The idea of artistry will always remain and I do think Madonna's the best in that aspect, but the idea of success and being huge is everchanging.

Yes, it did. It set the record for the most attended standalone concert ever in the history of music.

She is the best-selling artist globally this century.

1700's: Mozart

1800's: Beethoven

1900's: The Beatles

2000's: Taylor Swift (so far)

This century is just 23 years old sweety, and it's not about the selling, it's the longevity and impact but for you Taylor fans it's only about the charts since there is nothing else you can rely on

talk about longevity and impact as if taylor swift is not on top of the world 18 years into her career and impacting cities and people around the world. but of course, you're a liddo :eddie:

My list was an objective list of the best-selling artists of each century.

But I agree, selling music is not the only thing that makes a musician "big". Like you said, there's longevity and impact, and Taylor is also by far the biggest in both of those.

*a free concert

Which Taylor can do like 10s in different part of the world if she wanted

Madonna is legend but let's not dismiss Taylor here because of OP

Taylor is fine with her 2bn grossing tour without dynamic pricing
