:clap3: thank god for jenna ortega tho. im sure the writers are aware of the melissa backlash and gave her less airtime this time

Throughout the entire film, I was hoping for a final girl twist where Sam actually gets killed at the end and it' revealed that her sister is the actual final girl.

I hope she's the opening kill.

lmao, NO :rip:

She didn't even come off as cold. She came off FLAT and one-dimensional. SCREAM needs a very strong lead after the fantastic job Neve did with the franchise. And this Melissa chick is just not it

The way Jenna was acting for her dear life while Melissa was serving Riverdale'd acting :deadbanana4: We need Jenna and Sidney as the final girls this time

Just curious, but what about her performance did you enjoy?

Melissa is far from the franchise's worst actress. that title belongs to Aimee Teegarden and Britt Robertson

That’s 100% true, but we weren’t expected to accept them as the new lead of the franchise. They were literally just a third of the franchises weakest opening scene.

Her killing Richie is the best scene of the movie and few actresses could’ve pulled it off the way she did

I actually agree she did pretty good here and honestly I’m not really sure whether the actress is good or not but I know for a fact she is not good for the role. She doesn’t have a vulnerability to her and seems shady all the time even though she really wasn’t supposed to and it wasn’t in a good way where you thought maybe she could be the killer. She was just so disingenuous about everything and seemed like she could really care less about whether there was a killer after her. I know Emma roberts is no meryl Streep, but even Jill was a better final girl as boring as she was until the last act. That monologue in the hospital was truly cringe and made me feel uncomfortable because they probably filmed that scene 50 times and that was the best take. Glad you like her tho :swim2:

I really hope they utilise Hayden properly and that she’s not an afterthought in the script. She’s an actress that has range and unlike Marissa actually has a vulnerability about her while at the same time having a real strength. Can’t wait to see it.

I agree! The writers better do her justice. I hope Kirby talks about the events of Scream 4 :duca:

That was literally intentional which is why Mindy and the entire friend group said its obvious she's the killer and even the killers themselves were planning on pinning it on her :rip:

Melissa was the only actress who had to sell a CGI de-aged hallucination AND had to exposition dump that big scene in the hospital, that's wildly different than what any other actor had to do. That monologue would've been hard to sell for anyone. Ya'll can say Jenna acted her ass off there (she did) but its 10x easier to react to information than being the one delivering their entire childhood history out of nowhere. Hell, even Neve never had to carry on actual conversations with her ghost mom, she just got to react to her being a spooky ***** popping up in places.

It was intentional in the sense of ‘it could be anyone’ but they never for a second wanted you to think she was the killer and I knew months beforehand how it all played out because of the spoilers and she still seemed shady to me in a cartoon villain kind of way that I can’t really describe.

The fact that billy loomis was a ghost don’t change the way she acted in the scene girl she was as wooden as the day is long. The monologue was truly terrible and there have been similar scenes in the series (kirbys phone call where she named 5000000 movie titles, gales scene at the end of the original where she literally summarised the entire first film in about 40 seconds and jills entire spiel at the end of Scream 4 which is debatable on how good it was but it was entertaining at the very least). Your girl just isn’t a fit for the role and that’s okay, she could have EASILY ate up the role of Amber I believe because like you said, the part at the end with her going ham on Richie was iconic.

She played it as if she was the killer when she wasn’t and you can say that it was to mislead the audience, but they never had to resort to that in any of the other movies and it could be a writing/directing fault and not an acting one, but it’s a fault that exists either way.

I need to touch grass, can’t believe I just typed all of that :deadbanana2:

Because Sidney was always the final girl and there was never suspicion of her being the killer. The only other final girl we had was Jill and they OBVIOUSLY didn't make her act suspiciously like the killer because it would've gave away that she actually was :rip:

That monologue was delivered well and she doesn't get enough credit for that tbh. While she may not be my favorite actress in the franchise, people remain doing too much on ha

wait the reddit stans liked her? :bibliahh:

Turns out it’s not just Reddit. Just look at the last page :deadbanana2:

maybe we’re blind and she’s secretly an amazing actor who chewed scenery the entire film with grit and vigour and we just don’t have the intellect to get it.

It's not like she gave the most incredible performance but I do think she deserves props for some strong scenes. I do think Jenna kind of washed her though, but I liked 'em both so I'm not bothered by them carrying the franchise forward

That whole hospital scene where Samantha was talking in the mirror to Billy was just.....

:doc:

That "f*ck you" she said to Billy was one of the driest and most bland f bombs I have ever seen.

Literally even I could’ve done that scene better :giraffe:

Yeah, you all became acting experts now lol. Melissa was a badass and her acting was fine.

Yeah, Melissa didn’t serve Main Slasher Girl energy, and she tried too hard to appear strong. Like, *****, this was your first rodeo with a serial killer. Where’s the trauma and fear in your voice? We needed emotion, and she didn’t deliver  :giraffe:

Honestly, with the amount of movies/tv shows I've personally watched, I'll be damned if I can't tell bad acting. And that's what Melissa served.
