I've listen the album four times now and I've sadly come to the conclusion that this is not a good album :sorry:

It is okay you don't have to like the album and at least you gave it 4 tries. Maybe it will hit you unexpectedly! Thanks for sharing

Houdini was six months ago. People felt it was too close to DTN.

They should have put the album out closer to Houdini, Put TS as Single 2, save Illusion.

But I wonder if they watered the album down these past months.

Don't think so. The album was done around the time Houdini came out for it to be released on vinyl now. Vinyl pressing takes around 20 weeks to complete so approximately 5 months

Too early? On the contrary, she waited too much to start the rollout. The album rollout should've started in 2022 (around the time of the FN tour), early 2023 at the latest. She wasted 2 years on what… Podcasts, beauty endeavours, questionable collabs. She had the hype…

im sure they would've released earlier in the year if Houdini was smashing right out of the gate, but no one could've predicted the onslaught of pop girls releasing this year so it's good that she's releasing now

Releasing something before DTN was the only right answer. Everyone took DTN as her comeback so she wasted the hype in that soundtrack song instead of giving something to her own album

girl, no one could've predicted how big the Barbie movie and subsequently Its soundtrack were going to be at the time of their release...

Falling Forever :gaycat5:

Negativity era OVA!

Anything For Love and Happy For You have both grown on me

Whatcha Doing/French Exit/Maria are all contending for her best songs list. I think if there's any singles left on this album, it'll be one of these. I love Falling Forever but I feel like it should not have started with the HOW LOOOOOOOOONG, since that's the most epic part of the song.

any deluxe coming after that countdown? or is it a world tour announcement

Releasing a mainstream movie soundtrack single mid album cycle? Yeah, right.

edit: I regarded DTN a mid DL until I heard it in the movie.

maybe you do have a point tbh…

Now that I think about it and looking at Billie who also got her huge Barbie song, maybe waiting a little more to release Houdini could have been a good choice too, in case they had nothing for early 2023. It is what it is in this situation I guess :gaycat6:

Halfway through the album and I don't even know what to think. It's not bad but also not good. TS and TW are the highlights so far and yet they're not seeing most songs on FN

Dua will smash in Europe/Asutralia/NZ like she always does and might get a hit in South America as well. Shes global like that.

nothing off this album has made any noise so far, people are still listening to dance the night i'm afraid

This was my exact feeling listening the first time. Give it a few more listens through. It may change for you

Dont get discouraged by the US who clearly needs to distribute hearing aids.

Will she? Like obviously yes she'll get high debuts but this era is even disappointing in the UK

Well, just like i said on twitter, i don't care about the charts/numbers this era, i'm happy af with the album, it sounds so good to me and even resonates with my life so yes she did that.

And on another point some other pop girls do albums as bland as possible it could be and yall gays would gag about it bc they are more controversial lol, just shut the fckup and enjoy the music that is amazing lol

It's the... most distinct one because it's not Kevin Parker'd noise'd yes so I fear that's why you thought positive of it

I still think being part of Barbie with Dance the Nightmare wasn't a good thing. Yeah it was a hit but it messed up with her hiatus, then with the beginning of her era. Now "Whatcha Doing", which is better, is compared with that song because it has a similar vibe, so even if it was a single, it wouldn't shine.

Also I think she should be a bit more careful with collabs, a lot of collabs between these two eras didn't help, just a few where good.

The album is no Future Nostalgia but it's still a good pop record. End of an Era and These Walls SLAP :katie2:

They clearly chose the best songs as the singles though, those three are the highlight of this project

Her dad needs to go but of course that will probably be the last thing she does, so from now, all we can do is watch and see what the hell she can do next. Personally, I think she can dive into the R&B-pop sound for a bit or maybe even rock but this era is giving the start of the end for her which is wild because during the summer I wouldn't have seen this coming. Still kinda have hope for her though.
