Iris Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) Imagine the lashings FN would get for its last two tracks if it were released today. In retrospect, she was extremely lucky to get a 88 score back then. I think RO would've fared much better with critics if it were released back then. Edited May 3 by Iris

JoeAg Posted May 3 Posted May 3 okay yeah first impression… some of it is kinda eh, but I could see a lot of it growing on me! this kind of feels like the Talk That Talk to Future Nostalgia's Loud: full of bops but maybe not as much of a pop bible as a collection of good pop with occasional awesomeness. the 3 singles, Whatcha Doing, and French Exit are THE ones Anything for Love would be top tier too if it were more fleshed out like wtf were they thinking

_Fey Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I'm so mad at Anything For Love. This would be a highlight if it wasn't so short. 💀 1

The Man Who Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Future Nostalgia is an amazing album, but it doesn't have any songs as strong as Happy For You or Falling Forever I fear.

Kristie Kuwa Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Its unbelievable how many of you guys are gullible by press and success.. this is such a GOOD album overall. Honestly Training Season and Illusion were SUCH bad choices, the album is MUCH better than these two songs let on. Its so quirky, vibey, summery. Its an amazing effort and yall will NOT talk trash about it 3 2
Chemist Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Houdini + Training Season + Falling Forever + Happy for You are the only good to great songs. The rest is either Ok or plain mediocre. Sorry but this is not the album that should have followed FN. A mindblowing miss knowing how much of a music nerd she is
The Man Who Posted May 3 Posted May 3 HOW LOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWNG Can we stay like this together? Can we keep falling forever?
halcyonday Posted May 3 Posted May 3 those of yall saying that this is better than FN... electric chair 1
_Fey Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Happy For You. Yup. Yup. This, Houdini, and Falling Forever are definitely my top 3 from the album.
mike_int Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Album desperately need another Houdini, TS and Illusion, some more hard sounding. French Exit and AFL are complete miss and have no place to be on 11 track album
The7thStranger Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) This is more or less what I expected from Dua. There is nothing new here, and the structure and topics all mirror Future Nostalgia. And the label interferance is obvious. That being said, it's a very solid pop record for the summer. She's dependable, and I can respect that. Gonna pick up my copy today. This album is so ******* good and I don't get why there's so many debbie downers glued to this thread. Now let me replay Falling Forever again! 2

Dua lost all of her momentum due to her very bad choices of releasing TS and Illusion post Houdini. There are much more interesting and more fitting songs on the album that are way more distinct than TS and Illusion, which both sound like 2.0 versions of existing songs. Edited May 3 by Kristie Kuwa
CovalentBondage Posted May 3 Posted May 3 This album needed its own Hallucinate but overall its solid 8/10
