Machete Posted February 13 Posted February 13 (edited) What's the big deal? The negatively compare it to BMS, which they also didn't like but ended up acclaiming RENAISSANCE. Edited February 13 by Machete 1

It actually feels really writercamp’d cause like… you’re Beyoncé, no one relates to you singing that I’m not here to fight or anything, but weren’t you all dragging her for being too “God-like” and “above everyone” pre-Renaissance, and that singing about stuff like that made her not relatable? and that everyone was over her better than everyone attitude? and now this? chile whatevs 7
XAMJ Posted February 13 Posted February 13 If this is the “country” sound Beyoncé is going for then she can keep it it’s cheesy country pop

Whatever amount a song needs to be complete, in the eyes of those creating the piece, is the amount that was necessary. It doesn't take away a damn thing from it. Only complete snobs would say otherwise. There's no rule that says a song should only be considered a SONG when it's written by one person specifically. Thats asinine logic. 6 writers too many.... out of the 6 writers listed. 1

aesthetic bih Posted February 13 Posted February 13 (edited) It's not Bey's fault car/truck commercials' fetish over using country music to advertise their sh*t But yeah, Texas Hold 'Em is boring so maybe the lashing is warranted. 16 Carriages >>>> Edited February 13 by aesthetic bih
Bimbo Posted February 13 Posted February 13 16 Carriages is just so superior and feels effortless... releasing them together just made THE look even worse 3
modeblock Posted February 13 Posted February 13 yeah, it's giving of monsters and men, and I thought that before reading anyones comments about the sing. 16 Carriages, on the other hand, is a gorgeous masterpiece
modeblock Posted February 13 Posted February 13 also who gives a **** if the song has 40+ writers or just 1, if it sucks it sucks. if it's good it's good, no matter how many people had a hand in its creation. 3
perfillusion Posted February 13 Posted February 13 After years of pointless ass-kissing bankrupted them, they finally said **** it, let's just tell the truth. 1

They dragged her when she flaunted her wealth, and now she's not relatable
Stimulus Posted February 14 Posted February 14 The review wasn't nearly as bad as this thread title makes it look. Most of it described Beyoncé's vision and the song's influences, and only the last paragraph criticized the song for being superficial. I agree that Texas Hold 'Em is like the Break My Soul of Act II, using dance as a way to transition listeners between Beyoncé's albums.
Soda Pop Queen Posted February 14 Posted February 14 and what about it? Most of her leads are always slow-burn receptions.
Just a Gay on ATRL Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Most country music sounds like this song - is that car commercial music too? Seems unnecessarily vicious.
Maroonx Posted February 14 Posted February 14 let's face it though, most mainstream artists release songs which are meant to be radio friendly... I don't see anything wrote with that. fans are gonna love it, haters are gonna hate it... so idk

Yes, modern Country music is often soulless, which is their point. I don’t know if Beyonce's act 2 is gonna land the same because country music’s biggest strength is in its story telling, and Beyoncé's song writing team has been rather weak since Lemonade… With Renaissance, the lyrics didn’t matter as much because dance music is meant to dance. Of course, I’m going to give Act 2 a chance!

Erreur2 La Nature Posted February 14 Posted February 14 I mean it’s more tolerable than the second song in my opinion but it’s not saying much. It’s a really rare thing to see medias not being forced into licking her feet though.
Flanders Posted February 14 Posted February 14 It's good to see that they don't just categorically worship everything she puts out. The song is ok, not amazing. 16 Carriages is great though
Miley Cyrus Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Beyonce = DRAGGED Now Taylor next in April Sh!tpork don't let me down 1
