Here’s a diazepam we can each take half of!! The way my jaw dropped when I realized she was actually saying diazepam and I wasn’t mishearing I needed a diazepam myself when I heard that chorus, generous of her to offer 2

Letters is a nice break in the tracklist as a short burst of energy in between some of the heavy moments. That said, this is still Deep River we're talking about! The lyrics can still be a little bit crushing despite all of the joyful instrumentation. In this case, Hikaru is waking up to farewell letters from a lover who keeps suddenly departing. But she doesn't want the words, she yearns for the things that can't be gotten from a letter. Small touches, the sound of their voice, even just finding their worn shirt on the bed. Little things. Letters was a single too, actually! A double A-side release with Sakura Drops. Letters is perhaps the more forgotten side of the release, which is a shame. Seems like every double A-side has the one track that becomes the big hit, and the other song that gets left by the wayside a bit. It's disappointing, since Letters is such a great track. It didn't even get a music video! Which is another let down. It's sort of funny, but certain aspects of the Deep River video (which wasn't even a single) would've been great for a Letter MV. That beach? Sounds a lot like the one they mention in the lyrics here! Imagine what might've been with a full, standalone single release. But I guess she still managed to get on the SCIENCE FICTION tracklist, so who really won in the end? It's close to perfection for Curaga, but only close: "So good, but not a 10 for me idk." WTF........

Graves Posted January 31 Author Posted January 31 HIGHEST SCORE: 10 x 9 (Subomie, Riverbank, scenekiller, Meloetta Carey, gingguu, AMIT, willmcclure9, Ewan Chaos, Cruel Summer) LOWEST SCORE: 4 x 1 (bestfiction) MY SCORE: 10 Ore no Kanojo, "My Girlfriend", is unfortunately not the lesbian love affair confession that we may have wanted based on that title. That one is two tracks down. Instead, the track is a kind of imagined conversation. Hikaru plays the part of the titular girlfriend in which she quotes statements from her partner, proud that they have such a strong and likeable girlfriend. In truth, Hikaru confesses that the person she puts forward when with their partner is not always the true Hikaru. The truth is something different, something that she bites her tongue about yet still deeply wishes that they could invite this partner to see. Deeper than skin-deep. The second track to Fantome is a brilliant one, and after a quite uplifting opener, Ore no Kanojo introduces us to the sadder side of the album. The song resides in a dark soundscape, and it's a song that sounds quite foreboding. Like you've intruded in on a deep secret just by listening to it. The strings kicking in on the bridge only add to this fantasy, giving the song a sense of looming mystery. The way they build up to that overwhelmingly dramatic climax, with the French? Oh lord! As mentioned, Frenchtada makes another appearance on this song - and I'm happy to say that the pronunciation is a lot better here! According to French fans on reddit at least, I don't know **** about the language. I guess those six years of lessons paid off - huge success! AMIT doesn't hesitate to stan: "a mood switch from the album opener serving us a darker tone, but it's an amazing song and the french parts are bone-chilling." Ewan Chaos also complements their linguistic skills: "The French sneak as the music swells, oh they're taking it..." Curaga serves contrarian, and in fact is not here for some of this: "Pretty. The finger snaps are kinda cheesy. Love the strings." 2

Ewan Chaos Posted January 31 Posted January 31 So glad my single 10 from Fathole was not only the highest track from it but also JUST made it into the top 10
Curaga Posted January 31 Posted January 31 I’m amazed this song made it so far because it’s my 2nd least fav from Fantome lol. Should have switched placement with Manatsu tbh 1
