Affluent people not being able to see their privilege because they can only compare themselves to celebrities and the 1% is so funny jknkjnjkkn. Like YES wealthy disparity is so bad in America that someone in the Top 10% of earners is still closer to someone in the Bottom 10% than they are to people in the Top 1%... BUT the disparity between the affluent and the poor is still measurably real and meaningful. 

 

To have parents who both were educated. One parent working within corporate America. She keeps going "rural!!" yet rural is not synonymous with poverty.

 

I don't think anyone has ever called her a nepo baby. It's always been that the "I WAS A TRAILER PARK BABY!!" thing coming off heavy-handed and obviously untrue, like someone in a comfortable single family home that their parents finished paying the mortgage off of romanticizing being a runaway living on the traintracks.. go to 7th period chem, Elizabeth!

This is literally someone saying that they rather be rich in the rural suburbs than poor-rich in the big apple.  The problem with this narcissistic mindset is that there are, you know, actually poor people who also live in places such as the former, and it's insulting to flatten the difference between one's experiences in life and those who actually had nothing to eat or faced not having a roof over their head.

 

Googling "Lana Del Rey childhood home" tells me she lived in a 4 bedroom house. With a wrap around deck?? On a lake??

Honestly, good for her to saying this. She has the right to correct an untrue narrative that's been set about herself. We've seen for years that the narrative is that she's a poor little rich girl who grew up extremely wealthy and that her career was basically boosted by her family's wealth, when that really doesn't appear to be the case. Just because she took vacations and went to college doesn't mean that she had some kind of super privileged and wealthy upbringing.

I agree with most of these. I do believe she actually was disowned by her parents in her early 20s and had to live by herself and that's why the trailer park came in and having to work 4 jobs as she said in here, but I also believe she's oblivious to the privileges she grew with anyways. Like, even if she was broke in her early adult years, it doesn't mean she didn't grow ~20 years of her life in a pretty comfortable environment where they didn't have to worry about bringing food to the table or paying the rent to their landlord. It doesn't mean her family didn't have stress, struggles or financial problems, as many people do despite of their wealth, but she was still raised in a privileged environment that gave her the tools to become what she is right now, nothing wrong with that.

Maybe she's right. My dad had a great salary while growing up (upper-middle class for my country standards) but he was cheap af and i was one of the poorest of my school. 
Had only one pair of clothing every year even when he was winning good money cause he was giving all his money to the mistress
Sometimes the rich can be toxic and if  parents are abusive she was in a very bad position
