Yes. She’s definitely a better vocalist than Taylor Swift

“What talent does Rihanna bring to her music?”

Navy: “She’s better than Taylor Swift!”

throw that one on the pile with the other nonsensical excuses for why the bad gyal is praised for the bare minimum.

Again, I agree with everything you said, but that does NOT make Rihanna a talented or even good vocalist :skull:

It just makes her a mediocre vocalist who’s better than a really mediocre one :dies: at the end of the day neither would make it through Hollywood week on any season of American Idol, being better than Taylor at something Taylor sucks at doesn’t suddenly make her gifted. Not a tough concept!

….And at the end of the day, the title of this thread is:

Can black artist get away with less than mediocre vocals like Taylor?

And as youve JUST answered yourself, Rih’s vocals are, at LEAST, better than Taylor’s ~Idgaf about Hollywood week. Please. Not a hard concept

Well this entire thread is about if black women could be successful if they had mediocre vocal skills like Taylor. The answer is objectively yes because Rihanna is both very-successful and very-mediocre as a vocalist, yet somehow all the navy flooded this saying the answer is actually no because Rihanna is better than Taylor, which doesn’t make sense…??

I thought they meant with Taylor level of vocal ability? The title says: "Less than mediocre". Implying that the Black artist isn't just mediocre but at Taylor's level of less than mediocre, meaning that even if you think Rih is mediocre, she's not less than mediocre or on Taylor's level of less than mediocre. And quite frankly I don't think there's ever been a Black woman whose had success with Taylor's vocal ability. Rih is clearly above her vocally so she doesn't count.

Only two of these people are very successful and all 4 sing better than Taylor Swift who is off key even on record.

Except that Rihanna rejected that song. Meanwhile, Calvin wanted someone better to sing the song after hearing that horrendous and nasly demo. Imagine getting your own song snatched like that :ahh:

Why are you lying?  Taylor did not want to be on it.  That's why she wrote it under a fake name. The demo was exactly that...a demo.

The real question is, can ANY artist get away with having little to no talent and still have given to them what Rih has been given. Lol the way the Navy always knocks people over to run into vocal threads will never not be funny.:coffee2:

And wasn’t Taylor the one who suggested they give it to Rihanna to sing?

So why are the swifties so mad that Rih recorded that song if Taylor personally wanted Rih on it :deadbanana4:

I will never understand it with this fanbase wth I didn't even know Taylor wanted her :rip:

Anyway, I think there are multiple discussions to be had here.  Does white privilege exist? 100%.  Does Taylor benefit from it? 100%.  Black artists in general have to work harder than white artists.

As for vocals...Taylor has never claimed to be a great vocalist, and she doesn't get praised for her vocals.  Songwriting is why she's an artist, and that's why she's gotten the acclaim she has.

If you put Rihanna in a studio by herself and told her to make an album entirely by herself, do you think she could do it?  Because Taylor could.  She's even written hits for other artists (Rihanna included).  Different artists have different strengths, and vocals are not everything if you have something else to back it up.

Who is mad Rihanna recorded it?  If they are, that's a bit absurd. :rip:

Some Taylor fans were mad at Rih for recording the song and wished Taylor had kept it for herself. They used to make threads about the song every week for a while and were very annoying about it which was weird given all parties got a share from the success of the song. Knowing that Taylor wanted Rih on the record now does make it the more absurd. Like if Taylor got the artist she wanted to record plus a huge hit under her belt that gave her a nice check why would they be mad :rip:

Rihanna literally has no talent

Ask her fans they will say she has ears for hit

And these same fans come to Taylor threads to drag her

Rihanna and Taylor are equally talentless singers. However, Taylor is hard-working, which is why she's way more successful.

The fact that Rihanna is such a better singer than Taylor and is getting so little credit for it here basically answers the question of this thread.

It's all very meta, really.

Beyoncé isn’t at Taylor level

Taylor is above Beyoncé

rhe black community treat Beyoncé like she’s a god

Same way the white people treat Taylor like she’s a god

The fact Love on the Brain performances are the only ones the Navy post says a lot about Rihannas lack of talent
