I can see some people are already questioning the use of the word “Niche”. But niche or not, you cannot tell me that BTS or BP or even the biggest popstars in the streaming age today are as universal or multigenerational in terms of mainstream recognition compared to those up until early/mid 2010s. Nobody is downplaying their achievements, just be realistic for once :rip:

Then the user shouldn’t have been using the word niche especially for BTS  :cm:

Just say being a superstar isn’t a thing anymore.

can aespa just stick to doing hyper pop music no one cares about NFT, Kwangya or whatever.

Dynamite has 1.6B streams. BTS will gain over 5 billion streams this year without a cb.
BTS is one of the biggest acts right now and their impact goes beyond kpop. What’s the obsession with the random downplay every time.

BP despite not having the biggest hits, are always mentioned by the biggest pop stars in the planet. And lets not even talk about their individual popularity.
SZA and Bad Bunny are extremely massive, they would’ve never reached these stats if they were a niche.
You just say that because, because you expect only white pop singers to be “massive”
also In what world NJ will file that niche because Rina danced to OMG. :rip:

I think the point here is that popstars nowadays dont have the same level of fame or saturation that popstars before had. Yes Sza and Bad Bunny are ruling the charts however a non-music fan or random local wouldnt be able to recognize them immediately (they might know a song or two though). This is in contrast to the popstars of yesteryears where they were absolute household names that everyone knows and not just known because of a song or a fanbase.

BTS and Blackpink fall into this category.

this. no more gimmicks, just pure hyperpop excellence. no one cares about brand ambassadorships anymore since they became a dime a dozen

Let's be honest, a lot of those brands where our faves are being ambassador are just using the kpop money how they can. A lots of them have racist past and when I say past is around 3 years ago not 10 or 20.

I mean Bernard Arnault head of LVMH had racial profiling policy up until 2017.

It’s well know but it also apply to the POC ambassadors too. Anyways most of the recents ambassadors contracts are cheap as hell. It’s just for the exposure.

When you know that Anna Taylor contract with Dior is not more than 1,5 millions $ per year but she’s plastered everywhere and get all the campaigns, and the customs made for her red carpets, It’s easy to tell that Jisoo contract is lower. Meanwhile Charlize contract with Dior is 5 millions per year , Robert 2 millions per year. Adele the French singer signed a 5 years contract with Chanel for 4 millions euros. She earn 800k per year. I doubt Jennie signed a more expensive contract than her. Especially since she wasn’t that big in 2018.

Anyways at the end, It’s just us/uk actors + pop stars like Bey, Rih, Gaga, Harry etcc >>>>Supermodels >>>>>> everyone else.

And also, The Show's youtube stream isn't blocked in Korea, and the only live chat comments in hangul are for Lee Chanwon.

sza and bad bunny are miles bigger than the likes of bts outside of asia, like let’s be honest Dynamite is one of the only kpop hits that the gp might actually know and it’s still a niche that people either love or completely ignore

Yeah calling artists like SZA and Bad Bunny niche..:rip: I mean be for real she’s captured the millennial and gen z audience completely within the last 5 years and on a global scale as of recently.

Bad Bunny is big in Latin America but to an English speaking audience his music is relatively unknown. Either way these artists have several global smashes under their belt.

Right, when you’re hiring Mingyu to be your new brand ambassador, one uses all the best tools in his wheelhouse, and we thank you innisfree :alexz2:

atp aespa's gimmicks are bigger than their actual music and that's not a good sign.

sm is really wasting them i fear.

the reason why newjeans is everywhere is because the music is 6/6. everything else (good choreo, fashion + ambassadorships, bunny merch, y2k gimmicks) are cherries on top.

aespa lacks the good music foundation especially after the damage Girls/LTS did. LTS is a bop but it was not good for their brand

This show isn't of any interest for them.  SBS MTV even has a show just for them.  It's called The Trot Show.  But they think they can take trot global...

Anyway, I did see a support message for StayC in hangul, so there.
