I'd think in terms of buzz aespa definitely peaked around 2021-early 2022, they were undoubtedly top 3 GGs (if not #1) during that period with all the success, the viral Winter GOT The Beat fancam, and the interest in them extending to the success of a random SM Station song (DCT) + Step Back

They have remained consistent over the years however (much to some users' dismay), and have even topped their personal records through album sales & now international streams with Drama. So while they'll probably never be the talk of the town like they were during NL-Savage I'd rather be consistent success-wise than peak and then serve a steep decline practically everywhere like some certain other girl groups

Also NewJennies making their way in to the top50 of AOTY year-end aggregate :jonny5: Get Up is like at #44 right now, it's so deserved. Real TABS :clap3:

one of the more reasonable takes ive read. the buzz around them savage/dct/step back was insane. winter had viral fancams every other performance.

this is a big 4 flagship girl group though and id argue that you can be complacent with a steady string of local hits or start expecting more organic international slayage from them. they couldnt even outsell an arena in Los Angeles this year.

i still feel like drama is frontloaded, but well see when it outstreams Illusion

the fact that its :36 and is allowed to count as a stream to boost the overall count is :deadbanana:

can we talk about how newjeans has a music video for literally every song they've dropped? visual artists :clap3:

aespa needs an english album to promote in the hyper pop circuit first and then go mainstream or at least popular in western gay circles

I know you have this weird vendetta against aespa and constantly try to relive 2021 but you need to stop lying. Your personal opinion isn't a fact and you need to give it a rest. Seriously it's every week with you. I will never understand why you need to act like aespa should just retire.

idg why people are so triggered by the notion that next level is still their biggest hit by far and theyve yet to surpass themselves.

did i say i want them to retire? :deadbanana: i just want them to push the bar. if i didnt care about aespa i wouldnt comment on them.

it was definitely not sold out.

No one's triggered. It's just kinda super annoying to watch you repeat something untrue over and over to the point even users who just joined call it an obsession. Push the bar? Next Level is great and a smash but it's a Fast & The Furious song revamped. Truly pushing the boundaries of experimental sound. Drama and Spicy could never.

If you want them to be on the absolute top so you can brag about them

just say that. Otherwise forget about them and go stan Newjeans full time. Try not to turn on them too :foxaylove3:

it's not untrue that next level is their peak. if you're annoyed then just block me, i couldnt care less because im not trying to be biased :deadbanana:

if i was a pure success stan id stan newjeans like Mel but i guess that accusation doesnt fit the bill

i still stand by my belief that aespa has potential to really shift the industry but theyre just cashing out on the regular sm idol playbook and not pushing anything atp

You're not trying to be biased yet you're actually denying them selling out US venues because you want it to be true they're not doing as well as others saying even though I linked you proof so....okay die on that hill. Drama > Next level btw :bird:

even if that map were the final sale count (which according to the timestamp it isn’t), why are we pretending that it isnt still obviously successful? people buy last minute tickets all the time, and that is a perfectly believable amount left for those kinds of attendees.

acting like they’re pushing loossemble numbers bffr

Boxsxores represent % of tickets put on sale, not total capacity. You look extremely misinformed.

I was at the show in question, it was packed. The audience was much, much bigger than what they pulled on any previous occasion I saw them.
