In my opinion, yes. What I believe the definition of “pro-Black” is you’re invested in your own culture + doing nearly everything for Black people. It seems odd to self-proclaim yourself as pro-Black and be married to someone white. :skull:

Ofc you can’t help who you fall in love with.

Based off how I view 'Pro-Black', you can't not date a Black person but call yourself that.

Your wealth, resources, land, stuff, etc,. is all being in cahoots with them.

I think you can be an advocate for Black people, but Pro-Black to me is an all around life declaration for Black people, doesn't make sense to date outside of that in my opinion. And also just like, thinking of all them folks that were swirling a LOT of them were that animal that has black rings around the eyes. James Baldwin was notoriously called out by Marlon Riggs :deadbanana2: And to that one of my favorite quotes by Marlon: "Black men loving Black men is a revolutionary act", I apply the same to BM/BW or BW/BW, Black enbys etc,.

How are you "Pro-Black" but everything you have is gonna go to a non Black person when you pass away? How are you 'Pro-Black' but the only people allowed in your sheets are non Blacks lol. I'm not arguing or even anti-swirl/IR dating but this is all based off how I think of the term 'Pro-Black'.  Malcolm X and Huey Newton both discussed this too in their writings and/or speeches. It was apart of their politic.

Me personally I have no desire to "date" (I don't really "date" in the normative sense bc I'm Aromantic. And recently thinking I'm kind of on the asexual spectrum; but I have a platonic relationship that's more than a friendship atm) out of my race. For starters it's too much work when you're hyperaware of how other people think of you or hyperaware of the depths of Antiblackness, and second.. I just kinda don't want to. I also don't call myself Pro-Black either.

I know this ain't a popular take but I'm j/s. People can do whatever they want at the end of the day, and it doesn't make them a c-o-you-know-what if they date IR.

THIS. Totally agree. (Although Marlon did the same thing. I read that ended up with a white man as well).

imagine having to explain every instance of racism to your white partner :skull: especially given how complex discussions on racism are….

and thats just between the partners, don’t get me started on their anti black family members :deadbanana2:

personally i can see maybe having a white fwb or loosely dating one but commitment….idk :ahh:

Living in a super majority Black country means I'll probably, fortunately, never have to think of a non-Black partner who has complicated thoughts about race or their family members. Of course that doesn't mean that every non-Black person is racist, but it would be so strange to have a life partner dealing with learned prejudice. Just thinking of the possible slips or the blatant racism some people have to deal with the racist family members of their partners is horrible.

Listen…. It’s hell :hoetenks::hoetenks:

They think that plastering BLM over their socials is enough!

Thankfully my current partner is black.

Once I got into a scuffle with a group of racist dudes & one of my old flings was like “but you’re light-skin” ??? bro what :hoetenks:

It’s not worth the hassle. I think it’s either you have a nb partner that is vigilant about these topics (not common though), or you’re just somebody that doesn’t care about a nb partner being educated beyond a basic “racism is bad”  sentiment lol.

Latter is not sustainable in the long run though. :lakitu:

I was watching Tongues Untied the other day, then started to research about his life and other works

It's interesting that it's hard to find a clear picture of him, but that's his hand right there:

They were together 15 years (until Riggs' death)

Reel Black is hands down the best youtube channel, I'm always afraid his page will be taken down, because it should be considered a growing historical document.

The way YT people have gotten comfortable saying the nword. Litteraly was in walmart and this yt girl was saying the nword and have all of the self checkout line wondering if they whoop her ass.

I'm tired of it all.

the entitlement :biblionny: there are billions of words and you can’t just not use one???

Am I the only one sort of feeling slightly lax about the N word at this point?

I don't wanna hear it around me and I don't want to hear non-Blacks saying it either. I don't even use it myself.

But if it's constantly in the music, people are just going to copy and say it too.

Even in some R&B songs, you just hear N word this, N word that for no reason. It's too much.

Monique and her husband both need to get slapped in the mouth. Talk too much and then try to play the victim. He never had a career so he’s sabotaging hers while laying in the bed with other men and other women every week with that weak fedora. She out here acting entitled and delusional because she is. You call a man that has brainwashed you, ruined your career, and then tells your “fat a**” to shut up and lose weight “daddy”? She hasn’t been right since him. I’m glad people are realizing how insane she is. Talking about “Hey babies, my brothas and sistas, we MUST…” We must nothing. Sick of her AND him

Wait but you said mad facts here.

I loved Mo’Nique growing up but idk she just hasn’t been right since she loss all that weight and had her own talk show.

I think what started turning me off is when she loss weight then started dragging big girls like she been skinny all her life? :rip: She kinda won me a bit back with Precious but then the Precious promo rollout of her beefing with Oprah-Tyler Perry-Lee Daniels was wild. Which led to the blackballing.

I was hoping she spent the time out the limelight to work on herself BUT she keeps attacking all these stars (that are still/more relevant) and she damaging her own rep mainly standing by her man.

:bibliahh: As I was saying, delusional.

The way she continues to attack everybody. Everyone else cannot be the problem.

Remember how we didn’t hear from Auntie Mary for a very long time? Then after she got a divorce from her husband-manager, she booked a hit TV series, the Super Bowl, a critically acclaimed movie, two Oscar nominations? Yeah…

No because It’s clear irony. You can’t be talking about white people and their ways, and then you roll over on your couch and your white partner sitting there looking at you. What they supposed to say? “Yeah I understand”? :deadbanana2:
