She seemed very idk....serious, her energy wasn’t there. Loved the bit about when she talked about the Martins being hot and being down for that one thing though. It's like this in a lot of recent interviews tbh, also the fact that she rejects compliments and undermines herself all the time. It's probably the impostor syndrome kicking in, we been knew that the Internet actively ruined her self-esteem so she has these moments where she doesn't feel deserving of what she has
Godly Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 I think the documentary makes more sense to be coordinated with her birthday than the album, which at this point is probably not coming soon. I would like to hope at least a new single is somewhat close though
Ithinkforme13 Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 (edited) I think she lacks confidence in those types of situations around other actresses and she doesn't feel like she's worthy of being there. She's obviously wrong and needs to realize she's Selena Gomez, but confidence can be a tricky thing. An Emmy nomination could go a long way and also and I know this sounds wrong, but I think she really needs a boyfriend and for it to last atleast 6 months or it'll have an even worse effect. I'd also consider the bikini pics for Theresa's line from last summer to be sexier and more edgy than the album cover and HTM and she doesn't appear to have a problem with those. La Luna Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 I still think that lead first, then doc + album is the best rollout tbh Selena never had before a huge album release that felt like a real event, with the whole internet talking about, you know? But she can change that with sg3. Thinking in a strategic way, i don't think that is smart to "waste" the doc just for a birthday celebration or lead single. Doc is a powerful card and should be used with wiseness. What's the point of releasing the doc and lead? Ok, the lead will get a push for sure, but what about the album? Without any solid promo( she won't promote, let's be realistic) and the doc card already used, the album will struggle to get #1 like the same way Rare did. Yeah, nope. We don't need another Rare x The box situation. That sh*t was embarassing lol If the album is not coming this year, then they should hold down the Doc too IMO
MALAMENTE Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 So she's only submitted in Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy. No Selena + Chef S3 or as a guest for SNL. Let's hope she gets the nomination and she becomes a 2x Emmy nominee.
La Luna Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 (edited) Selena's music team needs to learn how to capitalize her popularity and translate it in actual numbers. Hype is everything. Stream era changed the way an album rollout used to be. Like, if Rare (album) dropped 1 week later after LAHN, the debut would've been better that the January one, IMO. They need to pull a Ariana thank, u next move and release everything in a few months( in 4 months she released the lead single, second single and album, that sh*t was insane, truly an event lol). Strike while the iron is hot and snatch a great debut. Edited June 16, 2022 by La Luna

I hope they try again with S4 but I feel like it is over for it

I feel like both her and Natasha Lyonne not getting submitted for SNL is deliberate, both are solid contenders for their respective shows in Lead Actress and I guess they were afraid voters might have gotten confused and voted for them in the wrong categories? Or that they would have resisted voting for them twice? I'm not sure but they submitted Kim K so clearly they were willing to submit everyone who hosted And I had already noticed Selena + Chef missing from the HBO Max FYC page, don't know what's up with that. It's a category where random nominees can happen so I hope they'll submit it again next year, you never know 1 hour ago, La Luna said: Like, if Rare (album) dropped 1 week later after LAHN, the debut would've been better that the January one, IMO. The follow-up music was also not strikingly personal the way LYTLM was and that was the key for the song's success. I don't think any of her next music is going to be closely tied to her private life in the way that song is ever again, which is why I don't know if it's going to have anything to do with her documentary. And that's fine as long as it's interesting and well-crafted music that stands out anyway, like Good For You was Also, going back to the documentary, I was thinking that if it was supposed to be dropping around her birthday and be a way to celebrate her 30th it would have a different title than the rumored one, so maybe it's indeed going to be unrelated. Who knows though, so much is up in the air

Who knows though, so much is up in the air Yeah I agree, I think they just didn’t want to complicate things much and just prefer to focus on Lead Actress. Hope she gets it. The idea that S2 will help them with the Emmy chances is true but only for the winning chances, since first round voting ends right before the season premieres. What’s the use if she didn’t get enough votes to secure the nom? Hopefully the promo they do during these few days helps, cause otherwise this strategy will be in vain for her. I guess they want the Comedy Series win more than anything, and since they know the nom is a lock they pulled this move of using a new season as campaigning. It most likely won’t win though. I don’t know, I just hope S2 doesn’t get ignored come winter awards season and they do something to remind voters next year for the Emmys 2023 (unless they release S3 again in June). And about S+C it will probably be out in July/August so it will probably be forgotten by June next year, unless she campaigns for it specifically. Edited June 16, 2022 by MALAMENTE

StarsAllAligned Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 Okay the Kimmel interview was literally perfect, that’s the energy I wanted for the roundtable @Godly She was glowing and served personality, one of her best in recent memory. Also the look, the long curly ponytail is probably now one of my favorites ever and I hope it replaces the bun and becomes a signature for her because

MALAMENTE Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 (edited) I watched JLo’s documentary and loved it. I’m so pumped for Selena’s. Jen’s used her halftime show as the connective tissue and like everyone else said Selena’s will probably work around mental health. I actually envision the doc to be pretty similar to JLo’s: similar themes, similar statements, emotional beats… And her energy on Kimmel to me was no different than usual, she just said a couple funny things and that’s about it. It’s not like she was over talkative or anything. I don’t know! Edited June 17, 2022 by MALAMENTE

StarsAllAligned Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 And yeah I exaggerated the interview a bit still she served 10/10 energy and personality and should bring it to the rest of her interviews instead of the overtly serious monotone ones she’s given in the past.
lauren198 Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 (edited) For now the best move for Selena's acting would be book some supporting roles in big movies and lead roles in small movies with good scripts. Idt that's time for her to work with her dream directors, yet. Edited June 17, 2022 by lauren198

It is an achievement and an impressive one at that considering no other live action Disney Channel series has ever even won 1. In fact the only other one to win is Phineas & Ferb for animation.

They drag the fans who used to (and still) claim that she herself has one, probably because of that infamous photo of her holding one. Being the star of a 3 Emmy winning show is still a great achievement, but the fans can be a bit annoying like that.
