Tea. Her agility improved a little, too.

Her voice is still never going to be fully healthy-sounding again unless she has (risky) surgery, but you can tell she at least is taking better care of it. I'm just glad she's embracing her new range.

I'm extremely surprised and happy now she sounded. I never thought I'd hear that relaxed tone again but she wasn't kidding, the pandemic may have saved her voice.

Say no to tours, Mimi!

Her tone sounds good. Not as phlegmy and metallic as it does on recent records. WBT climax was a little frenetic, though.

That was not live.

Thanks, Captain Obvious. Lol

But I understand how that could have been misconstrued. I meant frenetic as in her attempt to make it seem live. ???

Welp. Not claims of being forced to read from a teleprompter.

Lemme just say: it's hard to focus on anything when Daddy Tanaka is on stage

I’d like to see the receipts for that

She's been worse.  No windmilling, no dropping to her knees.  The constant hair touching was newish.  She kept doing that through the whole set.  Seemed more like a nervous tic, because the wind machine was barely on the 1 setting.

The speech seemed to be planned, since she was reading it from the prompter.  Still rambled through it.

I don't care for Copeland.  Hero is boring enough without the dancing.

Mariah does have a lot of nervous tics which is not uncommon. You see those kind of self-developed coping mechanisms from people with her trauma and mental health history pretty often.

She was reading it, but to claim that she had no hand in that and read whatever rolled up?  Yeah, not buying that.

Her performance definitely got better as it progressed... probably the nerves subsiding. Hero was quite lovely :smitten:

I like her singing over Latto's rap. I like the changes on WBT climax. It is live. Hero is ok I guess.

Mariah was rambling about something, walks over to the piano and sings a little.  She sings "it was only two weeks ago", cuts herself off, then says no, blah blah blah.   Walks over to the mic, starts her little speech and repeats "it was only two weeks ago".  It kind of sounds like she was going to sing about 9/11, but it ended abruptly for some reason.

It really looks like Mariah had that Hero/9-11 prologue planned, but was going off script and decided to sing it.  But somebody in her ear told her to stop.

Agreed. She'd been way worse. At least this set was mostly live. I can't get over her tone for Hero, though. The lowered larynx really made me happy. That's what really gives the song a soulful warmth.

WBT could have been great but it just seemed she was cramming too much into it.

I really want the non-lambs to see her improv outside her concerts. Some of her most endearing and enjoyable performances are when she's purely having fun.

Hair touching she's done a lot for EoM. Especially that VMA DFAU pool-side espionage era. She mostly reserves it for her music videos, though, when she's trying to evoke sexiness. Xtina has the same tick + violent head tilts.

Other ticks Mariah has is holding the mic as close to her mouth as possible even when she's "belting". Tilting the mic slowly away from her face for a sustained note and hoping no one notices the volume doesn't coincide with the mic's distance (and only to inch it back when she realizes the timing is wrong). Walking away from the audience while doing a high belt/run. Or simply vigorously mouthing the words without any break for breath and thinking it's inconspicuous.

I still love her, though. Muh, Qweeehn!
