Everyperfectsummer Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 She acknowledges Solar Power's negative reception for the first time on her last email. I felt so bad for her, it must be difficult to see critics and part of your audience turn on you like that after two albums as beloved as PH and Melodrama. Anyways as much as I like Solar Power I hope she gains her confidence back and this pushes her to make a more ambitious album
Bloodflowers. Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 I am still starstruck from seeing Marija 2 nights ago in Šibenik, she is so beautiful!!!! And her stage presence is out of this world! I wish I could see her on tour every day, I will forever cherish this experience and new friends I've met at the show. Writer In The Dark, Supercut, Mood Ring, Solar Power, Ribs, Perfect Places and A World Alone were my favorite parts alongside her long speech before Writer In The Dark performance
badvibez Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 At first I doubted that she would contribute to the hunger games prequel soundtrack, but now that Hunter is involved I feel like it’s possible
Letemtalk Posted June 25, 2022 Author Posted June 25, 2022 I'm still catching up with all the Melodrama 5 years praise. see previous page for NME article I-D: Lorde’s Melodrama is still a defining album of our generation https://i-d.vice.com/en_uk/article/5dz95d/lordes-melodrama-is-still-a-defining-album-of-our-generation Quote Five years after it was first released, few artists have matched the painful, crystal clear perceptiveness of Ella Yelich-O’Connor’s sophomore record. Recording Academy: The Magic Of 'Melodrama': How Lorde’s Second Album Solidified Her & Producer Jack Antonoff As Global Stars https://www.grammy.com/news/lorde-melodrama-album-anniversary-jack-antonoff-producer-star-pure-heroine-green-light Quote Melodrama (...) not only cemented Lorde's legacy as a defining voice of pop's new generation, but altered pop around the sound Antonoff and Lorde created together. I'm still not sure if we've forgiven the Grammys for not letting her perform at the 2018 awards, when she was just one of just 5 artists (and the only woman) nominated for album of the year. I read that her mother and father came for the show. https://www.croatiaweek.com/lorde-pays-homage-to-her-croatian-roots-during-first-ever-concerts-in-croatia/ https://www.total-croatia-news.com/lifestyle/63758-lorde-sibenik-concert Quote "I have been waiting for this concert for more than two years. When we started the tour, I asked everyone to go to the two countries where my family comes from: Croatia and Ireland," she said. Hope she gets a chance to have a proper holiday there some day. https://www.viva.co.nz/article/culture-travel/lorde-favourite-places/
Letemtalk Posted June 30, 2022 Author Posted June 30, 2022 The 'Te Ao Mārama' EP vinyls are being delivered now. This must be about 9-10 months after the original EP release date. The credits list Ella as playing the Yamaha DX7 Synth on track 3 (Mata Kohore), but I don't remember that credit on the English language version (stoned at the nail salon), so maybe they re-recorded some of the instruments as well as new vocals and backing vocals. This appears to be her first credit for playing an instrument.
Letemtalk Posted July 7, 2022 Author Posted July 7, 2022 She could have spent six weeks on holiday in Europe, but Lorde is back in NYC again.
Jotham Posted August 20, 2022 Posted August 20, 2022 It doesn't have the entire stream but it has a good chunk of it. Before this she was talking about working again and how interesting the reactions to Solar Power have been.
Clandestine Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 I'm impressed that she released all the videos from the Solar Power era despite the floppage. If only she released more for either of her previous albums
Letemtalk Posted September 17, 2022 Author Posted September 17, 2022 @Clandestine from my understanding they shot all the videos in March 2021 with Joel Kefali (who did the videos for Royals and Tennis Court) and a local NZ production team. She probably didn't have the budget in previous eras, because the video for "Team" came much later than the others and the video for "Perfect Places" came long after the single release. Perhaps she self funded the Solar Power videos. I'm not sure when she started working on the Te Ao Mārama EP, but it appears that the project took about three months. https://news.aut.ac.nz/around-aut-news/translating-lorde-codename-henry Then she was back in LA in late June 2021, just after the Solar Power single release. Just found this video from the ‘Hine-i-te-Awatea / Oceanic Feeling’ recording sessions. Not sure of the date of the recording, but it was obviously from before she returned to the USA in June 2021. She would have been busy in those months leading up to the Solar Power release.
Letemtalk Posted September 17, 2022 Author Posted September 17, 2022 @Everyperfectsummer - she left it a bit ambiguous, implying that it might be about new music, but not really saying it was about new music. https://twitter.com/Lorde_fix/status/1571024542474334209 of course we all want new music, but in 6 months when there is no new music, people will insist that she said there was something coming soon, when she didn't quite say there was.

Letemtalk Posted September 25, 2022 Author Posted September 25, 2022 What was Lorde doing at the Prada show during the Milan Fashion Week? https://twitter.com/LordeUpdatesBR/status/1572953122716123136 Longer video clip: https://twitter.com/Lorde_fix/status/1572970731209515009 I've seen a few people saying she is doing a secret show in Milan. Quote It comes amid rumours she's in Italy for more than just a Fashion Week appearance, with some speculating she could be in town for a special performance. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/entertainment/lorde-debuts-surprising-new-look-at-fashion-week-in-milan/MAOUAQSU5BGBFMAQRS4E56SBQA/
Letemtalk Posted September 28, 2022 Author Posted September 28, 2022 Pure Heroine turns nine years old this week. Update: Pure Heroine re-entered the top 20 of US iTunes. Ten years of The Love Club EP (on soundcloud) is coming up mid November. She just missed out on releasing The Love Club while she was still 15.
BloodLuster Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 she sounds very excited talking about new music lately ugh can't wait
Letemtalk Posted November 7, 2022 Author Posted November 7, 2022 Happy Birthday to Ella, even though her birthday in New Zealand would have just ended, it's the 7th of November where she is on tour in South America. We just got a duet with Phoebe Bridgers at Primavera Sound, São Paulo and the first live performance of Bravado since 2017. So hard to believe she is 26 now. https://twitter.com/LordeUpdatesBR/status/1589408775060193280 We got a new email too, although I'm not expecting the promised Solar Institute site update until both of her Brazil shows are over, maybe not until the entire Latin America leg of the tour is finished. She mentions seeing Dev play in the round, I don't know New York, but I guess that might be a venue or something. Maybe this: https://www.brooklynvegan.com/blood-orange-playing-in-the-round-show-at-brooklyn-steel-this-month/ It will be interesting to see if she returns to New Zealand, or back to New York after her last scheduled shows for the year in Chile and Argentina. Edit: also her email title was "Eating two slices of ice cream cake with James Murphy" I'm assuming we all know James Murphy/LCD Soundsystem - if not listen to This is Happening, or if you just want 1-2 songs, maybe "Dance Yrself Clean", "I Can Change" or "Home" would be a good place to start: Or you could go right back to "Daft Punk Is Playing at My House" or "Losing My Edge" from their début album or "Someone Great" or "All My Friends" from Sounds of Silver. Some people to think it means they could be working together, and maybe he could end up somewhere on her next album, although perhaps more likely he's just someone in the New York music scene that she knows.
Letemtalk Posted November 8, 2022 Author Posted November 8, 2022 We got the Solar Institute update. She talks about going to Milan for the Prada show with lots of pictures of Milan and the hotel and food. Then after that she went to Greece with Sriwhana, who I'm presuming is Sriwhana Spong, an artist and dancer from New Zealand: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sriwhana_Spong https://myart.co.nz/story/artist-sriwhana-spong/ https://michaellett.com/artist/sriwhana-spong/ https://caterinariva.com/2015/11/18/muscular-memory/ https://chartwell.org.nz/seeing/collection/beach-study/ I didn't know they were friends, but the art world in New Zealand isn't that big and no doubt someone is going to check the Solar Power videos and tell she was there in plain sight all along (haven't checked) and how didn't I know they knew each other. Edit: There are some serious Solar Power vibes in some of these pictures. From reading some of the links, this appears to be Cactus Bay on Waiheke Island, the same beach used for the Solar Power videos. Sriwhana Spong, Beach Study, 2012 Lorde was also on Instagram Stories where she made some observations on turning 26 https://twitter.com/LordeUpdatesBR/status/1589659796655198209
Letemtalk Posted November 22, 2022 Author Posted November 22, 2022 She did another email about a week ago and most of what she talked about regarding touring, has been posted elsewhere: https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/lorde-on-economic-realities-of-touring/ https://www.stereogum.com/2205718/lorde-concert-industry-explainer-email-touring/news/ Someone made a Lorde email archive here: https://lordeemailarchive.tumblr.com/ She appears to be home in Auckland again. https://twitter.com/LordeUpdatesBR/status/1593898409584463873 In other news, The Love Club EP is now 10 years old and Ribs has passed 400 million spotify streams. Why did they close the Ribs thread, when so many random chart threads stay up? 10 Years of The Love Club EP (and Royals) https://atrl.net/forums/topic/421316-10-years-of-the-love-club-ep-and-royals/
Letemtalk Posted December 3, 2022 Author Posted December 3, 2022 Interesting comments from Phoebe Bridgers about performing with Lorde in Brazil, also how Lorde wrote all the harmonies for the seven songs where Phoebe and Clairo did backing vocals on Solar Power. Also, for some reason she calls Ella, "Ellie"... this was from an interview Phoebe did in Brazil in November. https://twitter.com/ameliabiIity/status/1598128678437027840 https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Fi2xkAxWQAASkJo.jpg Lorde was spotted at the Big Thief concert in Auckland last night.
conquxror Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 do we think we’re getting new music next year she seems to be working on L4 for a while now

This song with Porches seems have resurfaced again. https://twitter.com/lordespower/status/1598715428431286272 https://www.thelineofbestfit.com/news/latest-news/porches-teases-snippet-of-goodbye-remix-featuring-lorde But no-one talks about how she might have started working with Porches and no-one talks about who Porches works with. Because when you take a look at the people Porches works with, there is one name that stands out. https://www.allmusic.com/artist/porches-mn0002488304/biography Quote The companion EP Water followed later in 2016, and Coady returned to mix third album House in 2017. It featured a longer list of contributors, including but not limited to Blood Orange's Devonté Hynes and Alex Giannascoli (Alex G). Quote He meshed the two on the more chaotic fifth full-length All Day Gentle Hold! in 2021. While the project is mostly self-recorded, Maine's collaborators have included the likes of Frankie Cosmos, Alex G, Mitski, and Devonté Hynes. Some people seem to have assumed that due to the poor chart performance of Solar Power, she was told she needed to go back to the studio right away and record another album, so she quickly agreed to work with Dev Hynes. From my understanding they were first spotted together in October 2021, just a couple of months after the Solar Power release. But what if Lorde has been working with Dev Hynes since 2019 and/or early 2020 and they had some part finished songs and perhaps she decided that none of the songs they were working on belonged on Solar Power? Just like she decided that "Hold No Grudge" didn't belong on the standard Solar Power album release. In other news, the rumoured short hair emergency appears to be over.
