Aston Martin Posted February 11 Posted February 11 (edited) If we really want to be honest about Gaga's lowest cultural relevance, it was the first few months of 2018. The JWT ended early, Joanne (s) wasn't charting after a grammy performance, there was nothing about another album coming soon, and we all thought ASIB was going to bomb. But during a year that started off like that, she went on to have one of her biggest smashes ever. I don't think we have to outline how massive ASIB was for both her music and film career; the accomplishments speak for themselves Fast forwarding to now, she's in a much better position than she was pre-ASIB (or pre-Joanne) despite technically being inactive. She's had six number one albums, five number one singles across three decades (two of which were 10+ years into her career), another successful film role (with a potential career-definer being set for release this year), strong recurrent stats (which would be stronger if UMG pulled their heads out of their asses), and enough touring power to complete a sold-out all-stadium tour. We don't have a super clear idea as to what's up her sleeve musically, but I think a top 10 single and number one album are in reach. And Joker has major potential. So even during this period of inactivity, I don't think she's at her lowest point of cultural relevance, and even when she was, she had a major career moment that same year. Lady FadGa! She’s only been successful for 15 years! 1

Puttanesca Posted February 11 Posted February 11 When Gar teases the lead single during a Superbowl commercial. Start the countdown ladies! 1 1

I agreed with most of your post. But this part is not correct. She had just done the Super Bowl in 2017 and was set to sell out arenas for the rest of her life. Most of 2016 seemed like her lowest point in cultural relevancy. Perfect Illusion flopped immediately and Million Reasons had an awful debut and also fell off the charts. Joanne received mediocre reviews and no one seemed to care about her. Getting the Super Bowl halftime performance changed her career trajectory (and revived Joanne (not the real person Joanne, the album)) Yes, canceling the Joanne World Tour was disappointing, but she was still in a better place than 2016 Edited February 11 by Vroom Vroom 1

HeavyMetalAura Posted February 11 Posted February 11 It is sort of exciting to think that, no matter what happens with LG7 and whether it's a success or not, the first Joker film was so successful, controversial, divisive, talked-about, and - surprisingly, taken pretty seriously as a piece of art - that Gaga's name will be everywhere again this Fall. Whether her performance is loved or hated, Miss Gar will be dominating the headlines just as much as she was during ASIB because of the film's power alone. That's really exciting. I'm not a "success stan" by any means (most of my faves are low-key flops nnn) but I think we can all agree that standing is more exciting when your fave is extremely *~relevant~*. With Joker 2, that's all but a guarantee.
Happylittlepunk Posted February 11 Posted February 11 What are the chances of Warner bros debuting JFAD trailer tonight? ariana just debuted wicked trailer at the Super Bowl and it honestly looks good!

I’m confident Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix are going to do an amazing job with there roles, and the story will be good. Joaquin said he wouldn’t comeback to the film unless it’s the same director and the story is very good. Joaquin has an amazing videography. So many of his films are iconic and good in general.
